Rating: Summary: Fabulous and incredible culinary dictionary Review: A wonderful, virtually perfect collection of cooking terms. Exquisite in detail, breathtaking in simplicity, startling in breadth&scope. An absolutely essential reference work for any serious cook or culinary writer.
Rating: Summary: Typos!! Review: I bourght the book one month ago... and i've already found 2 typos!! This is unacceptable in a "dictionary"!!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful book for the number of entries alone! Review: I found this to be the best culinary dictionary if your purpose is for quick reference, pronounciations and the ability to actually find a particular word. If already in this industry, or an accomplished home gourmet it is a great reference. It was one particular term that sent me on this quest to find a well written and complete dictionary of culinary terms. If you are looking for a more complex reference that includes tables and formulation references, then perhaps a chef's companion would be a better choice, but for entries this is #1.

Rating: Summary: A great tool for the professional and home kitchen. Review: I love this book. If you have any culinary questions, then this is the book to purchase. It helps so much with terminology. I'm always wondering what things are and what they mean. This book was perfect.
Rating: Summary: My lil' dictionary and I Review: I'm a guy, ok? I got this insuppressible urge to become a Vegetarian and cook gourmet vegetarian cuisine. It could happen to anyone. But it happened to me. I have probably 15 veggie cookbooks and try to prepare at least three new recipes per week. I can't remember even once being stumped by some arcane ingredient or bizarre description with this life saving dictionary in hand! The phonetic pronunciation of most entries is very gratifying as well. What more is there to say? Except that I'm now thinner, smarter, faster, more virile, high blood pressure is gone and I'm crazier than when I was a carnivore! But that's off topic. Long live the revolution!
Rating: Summary: Up there with the best! Review: I'm a Professional chef and l have questions all the time. I love the books that have all the answers. It has pictures and drawings that l can show my crew what something looks like instead of explaining.
Rating: Summary: Well worth the money Review: If you need a quick reference guide to look up culinary terms, or techniques, this one is great for the money. The book is some what small, about 1" thick, and light paper is used, which makes this book VERY convenient unlike most references book that are overly burdensome.
I'm currently in culinary school and as a student, I use this book all the time; it has yet to dissapoint me! Quality work here. A must for any foodie
