Review: Amidst a near tidal wave of technological advances it is inevitable that a book discussing each breakthrough is bound to follow. Bluetooth Profiles emerged in the wake of this revolutionary wireless technology alongside many other books on the subject. It is my preferred choice, primarily because the author, Gratton, broaches the subject with such enthusiasm and respect for the development involved in taking Bluetooth to the consumer.

Review: As a senior developer I can thoroughly recommend this book to anyone working with Bluetooth. I had been looking for a book specifically about the profiles and was not disappointed with my selection. The author considers every conceivable aspect of the profiles and discusses their various relationships in a fresh and challenging way. In my opinion, the profiles are too understated in other books and too little understood by those who develop it. Like myself, I am sure other readers of this book will greatly benefit from its content.

Review: I lent this book to a friend of mine and he refused to give it back, forcing me to be purchase another copy. What can I say Bluetooth Profiles IS the definitive guide to Bluetooth. No developer should be without a copy.

Summary: The best Bluetooth book I have read
Review: I looked at Bluetooth Profiles expecting to be bored by yet another technology book. I am a software developer going through some hard times and having to keep afloat in a drowning market. Keeping your skills up to scratch is really important if you want to stay in work in the current climate. This book was unexpectedly good. I already had a basic knowledge of bluetooth but now I am able to talk about it to potential employers with a lot more confidence than before. It was obviously written with developers in mind so I guess this isn't such a good buy for non-technical people. But for us developers it really does help to make sense of Bluetooth and I would recommend it for anyone wanting to understand the profiles.

Summary: Not very articulate - not recommended
Review: I was hoping this book was going to introduce and explain profiles in a more articulate and understanding way. It jumps right away and almost randomly into various aspects of bluetooth - in a very mixed up way. It does cover various details of each profile, but in such a tabular and stale way that it's very hard to continue reading. I enjoy reading the spec itself more than this book, which is a bad sign I'd say. This book is way too formulaic and is filled with too many tables/figures that don't add anything to the understanding of the subject - they appear to be fillers for the most part - eg it's not necessary to specify the bit breakdowns of almost every field of every message here? Too much raw data, not enough in depth understanding revealed.One very good BT book I found was Morrow's Bluetooth Operation and Use - only one chapter on profiles but it's a much easier and more understanding read.
