Summary: A great book for a real world application
Review: I purchased this book knowing that it did not have an introduction to the .net languages and techniques. This book has one point, to teach how to make a real world ecommerce application using the .net framework. I enjoyed this book greatly and would recommed it to anyone starting out in ecommerce using the .net framework.

Summary: Worthless
Review: I'm MCSD qualified but I found this book totally incomprensible. I went up to chapter 6 before giving up in disgust and sending the book back to the shop. Absolutely NONE of the code works. There are no explanations on how to set anything up. The books makes numerous references to code and material on the web site that isn't there at all. Even the accompanying web site comes up with errors.

Summary: Building e-Commerce Sites with the .NET Framework
Review: It is one of the best ASP.NET books I read so far both in terms of examples and in terms of the quantity/quality of the information communicated. A very good book.

Summary: Very Beneficial
Review: Ouch! The previous review was tough. My experience is a little different. As a Technical Lead it's my job to get a jump start on the .Net technologies and this book is a good example of a working browser-based application. Is it terrifically written? Not really. Are some examples hard to understand? Yes. That being said, I now have spent 2 weeks with the book, and after studying hard and working with the examples, I feel comfortable that I could write a complete browser-based application in C#. That is what I expected from this book. Now, this book is not for beginners so be forewarned. Buy some simpler "Teach Me" books first and get acquainted with C# and ASP.net and then buy this book to get your hands dirty with a real application.

Summary: Code can be made to work
Review: The code was written with a late beta of .NET. It is strange how the code and website have not been updated, but in about 3 hours I was able to get the code to compile and run. There are numerous 3rd party products now with more features than this codeset and cost maybe $99, but if you want to make a go of it, like I said, you can get the code to work.

Summary: Good book
Review: There is alot of ground covered in this short book. Although obviously not for a beginner, this book shows you what it takes to build an e-commerce site with C# and ASP.NET. If you prefer to learn by example, this is the book for you.

Summary: Building e-Commerce Sites with the .NET Framework
Review: This book has alot of good information for those looking to get started building feature rich e-commerce sites with ASP.NET, and Visual Studio.NET. This is not the book to start with for learning ASP.NET though, as some areas are slightly difficult to follow. Overall, a great book.

Summary: Pretty intense and short
Review: This book is pretty hard, as the description days. You have to be pretty good with .NET, too, because it's short book and focuses just on doing e-commerce. I thought it left a lot of loose ends, but that may just be because they only wanted to cover the e-commerce stuff all by itself.

Summary: Good text but non functional database script
Review: This book's usefulness is marred by the erroneous and incomplete database script for the sample site. Looks like authors did not test the source code they have provided for readers to download.

I am really disappointed. I had purchased the book because of the case study approach but without a working database I am unable to implement/modify/build upon some of the good techiniques authors discuss in the book.

If any of the authors read this review please post the corrected database scripts plus script to load sample data.
