Summary: For the newbie and experienced recruiter
Review: Most recruiters have never had a formal course on how to recruit online and those seminars take time and cost a few bucks. I thought I knew my way around, but decided to check this book out. I was surprised that I learned quite a few things...a lot infact, and I consider myself seasoned in the field. If you're looking to learn how to source and recruit I'd suggest this book, however, if you're looking for books to tell you where to go, I'd suggest the Recruiter's Bible or Internet Recruiting Edge.

Summary: Companies like Cisco know how to use the net - you can too!
Review: My fascination over the Internet started the minute I did my first online search. I was all wired up to the Internet years before everyone I knew started using the world wide web on a regular basis. Because of my background in Human Resources, I was naturally lured to the job boards, career resources and networking power of the net. Due to my head start in this fascinating online world and passion in Human Resources, I quickly became an expert in the area of online recruiting. Working with employers as a consultant and also with job seekers as a career counselor, I saw first hand a strong need for a book on this hot topic - Online Recruiting. Many companies already use the Internet as a part of their Recruitment strategy and by the year 2002 an estimated 98% will be using the net for recruitment.

Companies like Cisco Systems (maker of Internet hardware and one of the largest high-tech industry giants in Silicon Valley) have already harnessed the secrets in this book and use the Internet and power of the web to recruit most of their new hires. With unemployment the lowest in years and the economy booming, you need to attract the best and the brightest. Unfortunately, these bright folks are already working and not looking for work. How do you attract candidates not really looking or the passive job seeker (the 97% of folks out there in the working world)? This book will show you how. Learn the secrets that successful companies like Cisco Systems and others are doing to fill their continuous openings due to their phenomenal success and growth.

This book was very difficult to keep up-to-date. Image how hard it was to stay current in this very static Internet environment. Job boards were constantly merging with one another, while others were fading out and new baby boards were born almost daily. There's a chance I left out some very good job boards that may have been born too early for this publication or that I just didn't know about. The intent of this book wasn't to list every job board and recruiting service available online, but rather to give the reader a taste of the wide variety of choices we now have available in our recruitment toolbox. I tried hard to give you, the reader, a taste of all the new and innovative products and services available to help you find great hires.

This book is written for all the Human Resources folks out there trying day after day to fill all those empty desks. Whether you've been using the Internet as a recruitment tool for years or just a beginner, you will find this book helpful. You won't find a lot of jargon or computer language, just a lot of simple advice and techniques to help you sort through all the information. There are hundreds of books I can refer to my clients looking for jobs, but very few targeted toward hiring managers and recruiters. Finally, here is a book full of time saving techniques and all the tools you need to gain momentum in your recruitment strategy.

One of my goals in writing this book was to help you manage and make sense of all the online information and provide you with time saving strategies. Technology should save you time and add value to the human intervention- not replace it. In this digital information age we often forget the receiver on the other end of the computer is a person. . In order to attract this person to our company we must create a great first impression. Hopefully after reading this book you will be able to attract the best candidates to fill your openings and have more time to devote to your most important resources - human resources.

Review: This book is well written and packs a lot of very useful information for company recruiters. For this reason I purchased a number of these books for all my recruiters. This book has great endorsements by Monster.com, The Riley Guide, and CareerXRoads. I can see why they say "written for the experienced recruiter, the rookie, and everyone in between."
