Rating: Summary: Webmaster RushHohol.vom Review: I begin to build my web site in 1997 and tied to make traffic better. I had fewer than 500 visitors every month. After took courses in Web Positioning provided by Robin Nobles, director of training The Academy of Web Specialists, traffic of my site was increased to 9000 visitors every month. By fallow strategy described in their book "...Maximize Web Site Traffic..." now I have over 15000 visitors every month by working with pages of my site 3-4 hours a week only. Just use their strategy without any payment.
Rating: Summary: A superb book on web optimization Review: I have always wondered how some websites managed to get top rankings in most of the major search engines. What techniques did they use? This book seems to provide much of the answer. The authors discuss general techniques in the first two-thirds of the book, such as the use of key-word phrase, meta tags, and more advance topics like doorway pages and cloaking. In the remainder of the book, the authors take a close look at the strategies that apply to each major search engine. Understanding those techniques alone is not enough, a lot of hard work and much ingenuity are needed to perfect them. The reader must have basic HTML knowledge to understand the stuff presented. Overall, a very interesting read.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book! Very helpful -- Review: I just recently bought the book, and I've started at the beginning and have been applying the concepts to my own website. I'm already seeing results! I really was a little skeptical, but this book has proved to me that search engine positioning works--in the form of added traffic to my site! These folks obviously know their stuff.
Rating: Summary: It really MAXIMIZED my web site traffic! Review: I knew that getting my site listed in the search engines was important, but I had no idea how to get listed effectively. When I found this book I was skeptical at first. Who could teach me all there is to know about the search engines? I did my research and found out that Robin Nobles was co-founder of Academy of Web Specialists ... and Susan O'Neil ... I decided to go for it and buy the book, and I was very impressed. After only a short period of time I was already seeing results in my web site's rankings, and all I did was follow the step by step instructions in the book. If you want to know the secrets search engine positioning I highly recommend this book. I have more top ten rankings in the search engines than I ever dreamed. And I even got into Yahoo! Thank you for writing a book so easy to understand and so effective.
Rating: Summary: Excellent for do-it-yourself web site owners Review: I'm glad to have bought this wonderful book together with 101 Ways to Boost Your Web Traffic, 2nd Edition. It has an in-depth coverage of the basics and advanced topics on how to get listed in search engines. This book allows the readers to remove the excuses of not getting their web sites listed. I believe most of the techniques would work. The down side is that with so many people competing for popular keywords, it's becoming very difficult to get a top listing anymore. Anyone who claims that you can do that is dishonest. I hope to see an updated version soon. Some of the information is no longer valid. But overall, this is an excellent book.
Rating: Summary: I like it! Review: I'm working with my dad on my own web site, and I want lots of traffic. We're using this book to help us get more traffic. Dad says it's a good book, and it's really helping him. Thank you for writing it because I want lots of people to visit my site.
Rating: Summary: great beginner book Review: I've perused most of the reviews here, and they come from either high-end professionals (who give it a 1 star) to many beginnners (who give it a five star). I think both are correct. The usefulness of this book is in learning the "speaking language" of search engines. This book doesn't really claim that it will position your site as #1 or even top 10. But if you're in a special niche, certainly, by applying some of these techniques, there's a good chance you can become top 10. More importantly, it gives one the basic speaking language to either continue reading in this field or to hire professionals who really can boost. Search engine boosting is an area filled with scam artists. So, by reading this book, one will be able to shop for the experts better.
Rating: Summary: Apparently there are many web designers who do not believe.. Review: Like so many who are skeptical at the outset about positioning my web site on various search engines, especially information contained in a piece of software or even wanting someone else to submit my website for a fee, I took a very negative view of the simplistic points made in this book. However, after incorporating the many meta tags in the TITLE, Description and Keyword, I was surprised to see that it actually does work. Forget about paying for a banner on someone else's shopping directory or a piece of software which costs. Take the challenge and if your web editor has a tag editor, start immediately to enter the appropriate tags. This is a "must-read" book for professional web designers and web promoters!
Rating: Summary: For Amateurs Only Review: Most ideas in the book are too basic and they are useful for building Web pages, not designed to put you on the top of search engine results. Search engines change their algorithms routinely. This book, while new, is already half out dated. The best tool I have found so far is WebPosition Gold software. It's continuously updated with new search engine information and requirements. I was hoping to find something new in this book, but I'm disappointed. To be fair, a first-comer of the Internet might find this book useful.
Rating: Summary: Great if You Really Want to Know How to Do It! Review: My rating of 5 Stars may seem overdone? but wouldn't a novice read a lot of relevant books while learning? Nobels and O'Neil have done an excellent job in hand-holding throughout the book. No assumptions are made that the reader knows the jargon and zips forward. For the experienced Webbers, the book easily lets you bypass meanings, etc. The authors lay out, step-by-step procedures with well noted comments and their history or experiences and outcome with methods of approach. Detailing what each of the major search engines are looking for in many, many areas and situations is great for someone wanting to learn the how to's and wherefores and the tricks of the trade. Buy it. At the selling price, you have everything to gain and little to lose.
