Summary: Great Resource!
Review: After 20 years in the HR/PR world and 11 years in Consulting, I can recommend this book as an excellent resource. As a consultant I almost wish they didn't tell so many of our secrets!

The Human Resources and Payroll sections are insighful, accurate and show a lot of indepth product and implementation knowledge. Implementing the HR/PR products are really more of an art than a science, and these guys clearly have "been there".

Thanks for a great product folks.

Review: Could potentially become a good book. I just hope that this book reaches production as promised. I have given up on the Oracle Financials Handbook by Oracle Press.

Summary: Several types of readers will find this book useful.
Review: During the writing of this book, we had several types of readers in mind. Generally, we present material that is suitable for the intermediate or advanced user, and we assume that you already know your individual business processes, the basic Oracle vocabulary, and navigation techniques. Some readers who might find this book useful include the following:

The implementation team project manager who must determine the scope of the project and understand the concepts and issues to be resolved for each application will want to read most chapters in this book. Start with Part II, "Implementing the Oracle Applications," to learn the details of package software implementation. Then skim through the chapters of your most important applications as you build your implementation team, set your project scope, and identify issues. Read Part IV, "Working with Partners," to understand the importance of Oracle Support, consultants, and vendors of compatible software. Finally, use the checklist in Appendix C to start planning and establish project control.

If you are on a software implementation team and you are assigned to configure and test an application module, you will want to study the individual chapter in Part III about that application. You will obtain an understanding of how each application is configured and the main transactions the application can perform. You will also want to read the other chapters that bracket your core business functions to understand the integration points and process flow. For example, if you are implementing the Payables module, consider reading the chapters for Purchasing (Chapter 15) and General Ledger (Chapter 11) to see how Payables integrates with the other applications.

A database administrator or a technical user can gain interesting insights into the issues and concerns of functional users by reading chapters in Part III about specific applications. Use these chapters to put your technical reference material into a business perspective and map the functional areas of the business to the internal database objects.

If you are contemplating purchase of the Oracle ERP software, consider reading chapter 4 about how much things cost and how much effort an ERP implementation takes. Use the chapters in Part III about individual modules to prepare questions for your Oracle sales representative. Understand the compatible software of the Cooperative Applications Initiative vendors in chapter 30, Alliance Partners. Also, check out chapter 28, Working with Oracle Support.

A functional consultant who is an expert in three or four applications could extend his skills to include another application, by reading a chapter or two in Part III.

If you want to become a project manager, consider reading the chapters in Part II. Then consider becoming a functional expert in three or more application modules in Part III.

If you are a power user of one or two applications and your job description is about to change, consider reading the chapters in Part III about the applications that describe your new responsibilities.

Summary: Oh oh! No published date information available
Review: I recently ordered this special edition used book and it arrived within 1 week and in good condition. I am very happy with the prompt service. However, I was dissapointed that the book was of year 2000 publication. As the book I bought was linked to the main latest edition book on this site and with no information to the contrary, I was expecting the latest edition book. It is suggested that it should be mandatory for every book appearing on this site, specially the IT books and software to carry the edition and published year information. We must be allowed to make informed decision.

In the virtual world of internet we cannot examine for ourselevs and have to depend on whatever information is provided. And sometimes we have to learn the hard way. I will never again buy a used IT book unless it states its details clearly.

Review: Implementing Oracle applications is challenging due to many complexities involved. A methodical approach and expert insight provided by books of this kind can build and increase confidence in the management, professionals and end-users involved in such ERP implementations. We are still to see the extent and depth of coverage this book provides to induce such confidence. I am sure we have many experts and their rich experience to learn pros and cons of implementations. Most of the suggestions can apply even for non-oracle ERP solutions.

Review: It would be helpful for customers if you specified which version of Oracle Applications this book is written for. Same applies to used books too. It is essential to know the versions for software books as we don't want to buy obsolete books.
Thanks for noting.
