Summary: Quick and Consicse
Review: Dr. Schwalbe's commonsense approach to teaching you precisely what you need to know in order to pass CompTia's IT Project + exam should be commended. She did a great job covering all exam topics as well as providing relevant practice test questions. I had no problems at all passing this test and I owe it all to Dr. Schwalbe's, "IT Project + CoursePrep ExamGuide." I highly recommend this book if you're serious about passing CompTia's IT Project + exam.

Summary: Quick and Easy
Review: Excellent book ! Read it a few times along with PMBOK and passed the exam first attempt. Book has a good number of practice questions. This book provides a quick and easy way to tackle the exam. Ofcourse, you still need to have some basic concepts in project management. This book is a good place to start.

Summary: Good resource for CompTIA IT Project+ exam prep.
Review: For the money this guide was extremely useful as a resource to prepare for the exam. I used it in conjunction with the PMBOK to supplement some courseware I purchased from SmartCertify (which was inadequate on its own) and passed on my first attempt.

Summary: Many errors in the answer key!
Review: I am a PMP and purchased this book to study for the much more basic IT Project+. The book does a decent job of covering the basics in an efficient manor. However, there and SEVERAL blatant errors in the example questions. There are even several questions where is says "Select two answers" - but the back of the book has something other than two! To the best of my knowledge, the author has not released a corrected answer key.

I would recommend this book for the text only - find a practice test elsewhere!

Summary: Lots of Errors
Review: I found the book to be helpful in that it helped me to better understand the objectives. But the Practice Test Questions are WAY screwed up. It appears that many of the questions for each objective were cut short to make sure it would fit on one page. Also the questions don't match the answers in the back. For example, the questions for objective 1.1 has 5 questions, but the answer key lists the answers to 6 questions. In the same section, question #2 says to choose two answers, but only one is listed in the key. Objective 1.14 question #2 says to select two answers but 3 are listed in the answer key. What I also found troubling was that the phone numbers and email address to get support don't work. The emails are bogus and the phone numbers aren't reachable. If you are buying this book for the test questions - DON'T BUY IT. You will be disappointed. I would wait for the second edition.

Summary: A bit outdated but still a great source for the exam
Review: I passed the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI). To help me master the concepts of PMBOOK 2000 I used this book, which is written in parallel to the PMBOOK 2000 chapter for chapter using its terminology. Although this book is titled Information Technology Project Management, most non-IT candidates can read it. About half of the examples and scenarios are IT related and are very general, the author does use defense and construction as examples too. Recall that Project "Management" is independent of industry and so is the exam. The Author does an excellent job in taking the very dry PMBOOK 2000 and putting it in storybook form, helping the reader grasp the PMBOOK 2000 clearly. I would also recommend two publications form ESI international, PMP Challenge (third edition) as a memory jogger and thought provoker of the PMBOOK 2000 and PMP EXAM Practice test and study guide (fourth edition). A word of caution, the study guide part in the title is misleading there is almost none, you can learn a lot from the solutions to the questions which are well written and cross listed with the PMBOOK 2000.

Summary: A bit outdated but still a great source for the exam
Review: I used this book, the PMBOK(R) and the PK0-002 cheat sheet (from ebay) to pass the new exam. Although this is a PKO-001 book and a little outdated, I still think it is a good source to study for the exam. It is precise, to the point, and let u focus on the essence. There are no backgound theories and case study to tie you down. Use it with the other sources I mentioned before and you will be good. Kathy, give us an update!

Summary: What a time saver!
Review: I was pleasantly surprised at how great this little book is. The answer key is correct now, and I passed the IT Project+ Exam because this book helped to make the weird CompTIA objectives make sense! Well worth the money, and it won't take long to read through the book and get great practice with the sample questions, which were very much like the real exam questions.
