Rating: Summary: A great book for both tech and non-tech readers Review: This book gives very clear pictures on the wireless communications. Extensive usage of drawings helped to explain the technologies in an easy way to understand. It is a good book for general education as well as references for wireless applications developers. I like the chapter 10, 3rd Generation Wireless Applications, most.
Rating: Summary: Needs some editing Review: This book has a lot of good info, but is riddled with silly errors, nonsensical text, references to figures that either don't exist or which discuss something else in the text and general clutter not to mention amateurish illustrations. In places it seems like all three authors wrote their own paragraph on a topic and rather than condense them down they instead printed all three back to back! The overall usefulness of the book is clouded because of this. If the authors and editor couldn't catch some of these basic flaws, who is to say that anything else is valid?
Rating: Summary: recommended for overview of 3G Wireless Review: This book is an excellent text on 3G wireless technology, and a good overview of wireless technology in general. It is an understandable reference to help understand how this exciting field is developing. The reader should have a strong interest in the subject matter, as the book is a teaching aid, and not written in a manner to draw the reader on. While it's not a book to cuddle up with in bed, it is clear and concise.

Rating: Summary: Poor editing, good general information Review: This book offers a general overview of the 3G technologies (also 2G and 1G) in a technical nature that's easy to understand by a technical person. However, frequently the reader will find repeated materials that shouldn't be there. The format of the book is not exactly very professional compare to book of similar subject. The authors should try to improve the writing and organization in the next edition.
Rating: Summary: Making complex subjects understandable Review: This has to be one of the best 3G books for all levels around, from novices to the experienced network technologists. Its technical depth and detail is astounding, the author really takes time to illustrate and explain concepts, not simply list them. Making this books very readable and informative. After reading this book, even novices who had the impression that 3G was a difficult subject to understand would become an expect on it. The book really does demystified, making complex subjects understandable.
Rating: Summary: very good overview of 3G Review: This is a very good overview of 3G wireless mobile systems. It covers both the technology, networks, products, applications, services and is generally well-written. It isn't really an engineering manual on 3G but then it doesn't claim to be.
