Review: The best thing about this book is the fact that it is written really clearly. I've read quite a few of these books, and many of them say things like, "Don't make your META tag keywords too long." What's too long? 1000 characters? 2000 characters? 50? This book says specifically that 200 characters is an excellent number for keywords and describes why.

This continues throughout the book. I learned more from this one book than I did from any of the other web marketing books I've read over the past year. I've done some vast revamping of my META tags, which has upped traffic dramatically, and learned many other easy changes to make more traffic. The biggest surpise was webrings -- I've always been completely against them, but after reading this book I started using them, and hey, they really do bring in visitors.

The only complaint I have is that most of the URLs in the book are either dead links or have been redirected to unrelated information, which is a shame and fairly frustrating.

Summary: The Internet Marketing Bible
Review: The Bible of Internet marketing, 101 Ways plumbs the depths of the Web, and in the process, it makes layer upon layer of technological complexity understandable to the layman. 101 Ways is for anyone who wants to learn more about: how to make meta tags work for you, creative and profitable approaches to banner advertising, using newsgroups as part of your marketing strategy, increasing your chances of being listed by the top search engines, and a whole raft of other Web-wise tips. It's the straight goods!

Summary: Book Title and Contents Do Not Match
Review: The book is better than a few other books I have bought. I have used most of the techniques listed in the book, and I know they work. However, I feel being cheated by the publisher because the book promises 101 ways, and I only found 56 ways. The subtitle is more accurate as it hints that the 101 ways include tips and resources. Also, I'm very disappointed by the companion Web site. All I found are links to other Web sites mentioned in the book!!! There's absolutely no value to this companion site. I would have given this book a higher score if it covers more of the promotion techniques in greater depth. Out of the 56 ways, only 1/3 are covered well, and they are already familiar to most people: seach engines, directories, newsgroups, mailing lists, banner ads, and cybermall. The book could have focused more on the less known techniques such as online seminars, interactive tours, chat rooms, free offers, sponsoring Net events, and techniques used by such popular sites as Amazon.com and CNet. Finally, like many of the Internet books I have bought, some of the information in the book is already out dated. For example, the domain name registration agency is no longer at www.internic.net. The author could have provided some advice on how to keep up with the changes on the Internet.

Summary: Shallow Information - Misleading Title
Review: The book is shallow. Many of the promotion techniques are covered in a few sentences. Informing someone about a subject is very different from teaching someone how to do it. Also, the book title is misleading. There are only 17 sections in the book. I don't see 101 ways.

Summary: A hyperspace to cyperspace
Review: The difference between an Olympic Champion and a National Champion is the fine points that make technique work. Some people call it polish. Sweeney's book on promoting your website is the Olympic Champion. I been working with computers since 1985 and in three days I doubled my knowledge on web site production and I am not even half way done with the book. This book is a hyperspace to cyperspace. If you have a web site for business this is required reading. An absolute must. Stupid if you don't. I know I am not suppose to call you stupid, but read it and you'll see how far off I am.

Summary: Excellent Resource Your Internet Marketing Needs
Review: This book has at least 101 ways to promote your website online. If you are looking for a book that covers almost all aspects of Internet marketing, this book will deliver with proven techniques that work! This book was instrumental in doubling traffic to my site AssociateSystems.com in four months. With over 20+ chapters everything is covered such as web site design, affiliate programs, cybermalls, email and banner marketing, link partners, keeping customers, web traffic analysis, webcasting, meta indexes, mailing lists, newsgroups, search engine promotion and submission. Sweeney does an excellent job at covering most topics in detail though there could have been a little more depth on using meta tags.

Summary: A lot of details, but well worth it!
Review: This book is a definite MUST HAVE for any website designer, newbie to web design and anyone and everyone who has an online business. Simple, easy to understand visuals compliment the text, which is written in a very simplistic manner. This book is wonderful - magnificent - excellent, and will help you greatly understand the elements of successful web design. I've used it to consistently update my own website, at:
