Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Needed a case study approach for Ora Fin. A long way to go. Review: Oracle Financials implementation is not a trivial task. It is a major cost for any organizations' IT department. This books tries to break the ice on Oracle Finacials compiled information. It is the only book that exists in the field of Oracle Financials. The enormity of this tasks makes it impossible to club all the knowledge one would expect from a handbook. However, it does try to be insightful for ar modules as opposed to explanation of other modules. It is the courage of the authors to delve on such an elusive topic that deserves a special mention. What we need for an implementation is case studies with very particular code specific to that situation. I guess for each module in Oracle finacials one could write a book and that is what is required. Or if we try to slice and dice it from different perspective. Let us assume we try to categorize it from Industry line perspective. One for Energy kind of industry, one for production kind of industry, and so on the classification will become endless what is required is the process identification in a business ( for instance invoicing, billing) and then trying to explain the best practices and implementation for that process. The purpose of this book is introduction to Financials and a brief outlook at each module and project management. I think we need a module-detailed book with processes implementation.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: It could be Better! Review: Oracle Press has tried to put all Oracle Financial modules in single book, so it is more of "Introduction to Oracle Financial" rather than a Guideline for Implementer. If someone for resources for implementation, he should either go to Oracle Training or hire a consultant.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Definitely a must read -- concise and to the point Review: The book covered just the right amount of functional and technical information. I am thrilled that someone thought about writing a book with a focus on applications since all the other books were primarily technical. Its about time a book like this came along for those of us who may not be as technically sound but definitely want to learn about it as well as how it incorporates into the applications side. I hope this isn't the end and would like to see more books come out that would start focusing into more specific areas. Good job!
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: A lot of sizzle, very little steak. Review: The book is obviously written by two men who love Oracle. The book is very fluffy, and won't really help anyone who doesn't already have a good understanding of the applications. It does document the functionality of the application well.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: not recommended for reference Review: The book is trying to cover the business as well as the technical aspect of the application, but it didn't cover either of them very well, especially the technical side. The book is not well-organized enough to be used as a reference book.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Great! Review: The book looks great! Its about time
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Not what I expected but.... Review: The book seems to be a good (and the only) general overview for people who would like to get familiar with the oracle financials product but it will probably wont add much to experienced oracle financials professionals. Still, a nice to have book for $29.99 (not sure why they raised the price)
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: TOTALLY FANTASTIC !! Review: The topic of this book is fantastic. I am sure the expert authors will have done a wonderful job, and that everyone will be very happy and satisfied when they read this book ! Keep it up !! Is this book out ? Where are all the other reviews ?
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Thinly spread and inaccurate in parts Review: This book does give quite a good overview of the applications. However, it tries to be all things to all people, and does not really succeed. The chapters on the core Financials modules are not too bad. The title of the book is a bit confusing, because Oracle renamed its suite 'Oracle Applications' some time ago; ie why would you see Inventory and Order Entry discussed in a 'Financials' Handbook? There are also quite a few inaccuracies in the book, some of which may mislead implementers.
