Rating: Summary: Excellent guide Review: The material is excellent and worth the purchase, will help you achieve ccie status on the raod to passing the two exams you need, good investment for all strains of ccie study
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: The only value of this book is to give you an idea what to prepare for the exam, and this is the reason I brought it. I have read many Cisco press books and this one is the most disappointed. The book itself does not explain the topics well and as a CCIE myself I found many errors & inaccurate information inside, much more than any other Cisco books I read. My advice is to use this book only for the exam but not and never as a future reference.
Rating: Summary: Excellent book best for this certificatio n Review: There are no other books that will help you as this one helped me, great value and cd is perfect, the ccie security exam is not that hard and this book follows the detail you need, good companion, even has sample ccie exams for both security and Routing and switch examinaions, authors are ccie procotors and program manager it must be aimed at the right topics, it helped me nail the exam in one attempt which is what you need to achiveve these days with the enormouse charges cisco ask you to pay for a certification examination.
Rating: Summary: Not enough to prepare for qualification Exam Review: This book covers most info needed for the security qualification Exam, but not detailed and in deepth enough. I just past my test, I am glad that I bought the other book: Network Security Principles and Practices, which provides much more detailed infotmation and less errors. Some errors in this books were so anoying that I can't believe Cisco Press published it and endorse it as official preparation guide. One example, it constantly refer to IP protocol number ( 47 for GRE, 50 for ESP, 51 for AH) as IP port number, even a CCNA souldn't make that mistake.
Rating: Summary: Disappointed Review: This book is a thin overview lacking in its usefullness to prepare adequately for the written exam. I'm very disappointed in this text and do not recommend it. Look for SCEP or information on CA's in this text. Half the book seems to be what-you-already know questions... Look for another book/resource.
Rating: Summary: Awesome - Briallant- Great companion Review: This book is amazing and it true quality. For me to invest such a small amount of money to gain an advantage over the rest of the ccie candidates is brilliant, I emailed the author and congratulated him of this quality product, he was a former ccie proctor had has 3 separate ccie certifications, its a great thing for this author to provide us poor folks with no qualifications an edge over the ccie program which is littered with misinformation on their website, this author clearly knows what you need to k now and conveys it brilliantly, highly recommended, 5 stars for me, great book, Steve
Rating: Summary: Very Sahllow Review: This book is confusingly addressed to CCIEs. It should be addressed to CCNAs. Lots of technical and typographical errors.
Rating: Summary: Great book and companion Review: This book is impressive lots of good examples and follwos what you need to know for the written exam the bonus material like the sample ccie labs are harder than the real lab provided by Cisco a must buy investment for anyone serious about ccie certification, great investment
Rating: Summary: Weak & fulled with typo's and errors Review: This book is only useful as a very basic guide. The questioning in both book and practise exams are weak and easy to answer. Technical detail is very light. There is a very large number of errors and typo's throughout the book & disk, hard to beleive that it was proofed at all, and looks like it was rushed into production. If you base your prep' on this book you will probably not be sucessful at the written exam. Good Luck!!
Rating: Summary: Very poor exam guide. Review: This book is painfully incomplete and inaccurate. I don't believe the author has ever seen the actual exam. I went throught the book with disappointment after every chapter, hoping that maybe the next one will contain useful material, but no. It is true that the book was supposed to cover the previous version of the exam, but the new exam doesn't expand on existing individual topics like HTTP of SSL (just to pick some), only adds new topics.
The book can be used as an introduction to the actual study for the exam, but nothing more. I can't believe Cisco is recommending is as an official study guide.
