Rating: Summary: UMTS Networks Review: It's a great book. The chapters explain and develop the UTRAN and CN concepts defined in the 3GPP specifications. Could be great if the chapter dedicated to UMTS Services its more detailed.
Rating: Summary: UMTS NETWORKS - Architecture, Mobility and Service Review: This book is up to my expectations. Most of the books on 3G overemphasize the radio access part and underemphasize the other aspects like UMTS Terminal, Core Networks, Interfacing with External Networks, Services, Appilcations etc., in their coverage. This book deals with all these aspects on equal priority basis. The depth of the details is neither at high level nor at low level. It is just at right level and for people who are eager to enhance their knowledge on 3G, I recommend this book as worth having. The only missing part I felt in this book is OSS systems for 3G.
Rating: Summary: The best book on UMTS networks. Review: This books is currently the best book on UMTS network. It covers both UTRAN and core network layout very well. The other parts on theory, WCDMA, services, terminals and protocols are also very good. The book has been very well organised. There are very many figures in the book which are clear and helpful to understand. If you need only one book on UMTS, this is the one. There are many books in the market on 3G and UMTS but this one is the one explaining how it works in practical rather than just theory only. It is European centric also. Warmly recommended.
Rating: Summary: UMTS Networks Review: Very easy reading. Good use of diagrams to illustrate concepts discussed. Covered more then I anticipated on the CN and UTRAN. Typically, focus is emphasized on the WCDMA but this book has balance. The only thing that bothers me is the continual type error with the letter z being replaced by s everywhere in the book.
