Rating: Summary: Obviously not an eBay Seller Review: Although this book is more recent than the Dummies book of the same theme, it's clear that Holden is not an active seller on ebay. He stresses many things in the book, they do apply to home business, but a good deal does not apply to running a business on ebay. I was inspired and learned much more by Starting an eBay Business for Dummies, than with this book. There seems to be a major difference when a book is written by someone who is both a writer and a successful eBay Power Seller (as is the case with the Dummies book).
Rating: Summary: Try Overstock.com Auctions! Review: Anyone with the least bit of PC knowledge and customer service skills can sell on any on-line venue. Most have it set up to walk you through step by step. Besides, eBay raised their fees so high as of 2/18/05 that many sellers are flocking to other venues like www.overstock.com/auctions!
Rating: Summary: Very Informative Review: I consider myself moderately tech savvy and although I had a few eBay transactions under my belt as a buyer and seller, I found this book very informative. I bought this and the dummy book and I found this one more helpful. I keep going back to this one to lookup for tips and tidbits. This book emphasis is on those who want to sell full time on eBay and it touches all the bases from taking pictures, equipment needed, helpful software, and more. It also offers great links to eBay and other sites to help you out. I really enjoyed that he profiles several successful full time eBay sellers and their stories. It's great to hear from those who are making it. If your trying to become a full time eBay seller like me this book should be on your desk!

Rating: Summary: Better than the Dummies Book Review: I had already purchased the Starting an eBay Business for Dummies book so I was very skeptical about purchasing this book. I decided to just read parts of it in the store. I ended up buying it because I liked the style of his writing, and chapter 4 on tips for serious sellers really hit home. He talks about not getting too wrapped up in each individual sale, that for a serious seller it is important to do a volume of business. He also puts importance on the professional design of your ads, a logo, business cards, etc. to let people know you are a serious professional. I haven't read the book cover to cover but a lot of his information is to the point, with great stories on established eBay sellers and their different approaches. This book is also more up to date than the Dummies book, and talks about PayPal and its pros and cons in detail. Overall, this is a very useful book with great information, and I might not have purchased the Dummies book if this had been out before.
Rating: Summary: Good Introduction to Ebay Review: I wanted to explore the possibility of starting an Ebay business and this book provided me with answers to most of my questions. Covers many aspects of Ebay business process but I was expecting more information on finding sources of products to sell.
Rating: Summary: Good As Any Review: I'm not an expert of eBay by any means. In fact, the last time I listed some software on eBay I had to have my sister-in-law handle the listing duties. I just an not that brave when it comes to actually making money online. Sure I can handle the technical stuff like hosting my images on my web site and making up templates for my eBay listings, but selling on eBay involves much more then merely technical details. It is a business and that means you must learn how to think like a business person and know what your options are while doing business on eBay. That is where this book shines. And that is why a book like this is so good for us timid sellers. It is perfect book for those of us who need a lot of hand-holding when they start doing business online.
How To Do Everything With Your eBay Business covers everything there is about selling stuff on eBay. From the essential business practices such as setting goals for your eBay business and deciding what to sell to learning about how to be more effective in actually selling your items by writing up enticing descriptions and how to use necessary services and software, to the little talked about selling options available to the serious eBay business person like Half.com, eBay Moters, and Sothbys. And don't forget the accounting help you need to do to keep the IRS happy.
In my humble opinion, there is no better source for learning about doing business on eBay no one any more readable as How To Do Everything With Your eBay Business.
Rating: Summary: Advocates using pro secrets to sell more successfully Review: Profit from live auctions, attract bids with clear and quick-loading images and attention-getting descriptions, and learn about reserves and 'buy it now' pricing with the aid of Greg Holden's How to Do Everything With Your eBay Business, a step-by-step resource which advocates using pro secrets to sell more successfully. There are other ebay books on the market, but this one clearly covers a wider range of basics than most, ranging from designing a sale to opening up your own Web store via ebay's system.

It is written in a concise stype; there are no wasted words to struggle through. The information you will receive from this author is both up-to-date and of value.
