Summary: Many functions in examples missing in Matlab R12, R13
Review: This would be a great book except it needs to be updated for Matlab R12 and (now) R13. Many of the functions referenced in the book (e.g. zplot, freqz) have now in the signal processing toolkit so one really needs to acquire this toolkit to make the book fully useful.

Summary: Excellent hand-holding for beginners!
Review: While this is not a book to use to learn concepts,it sure takes you to a deeper level of DSP learning thru clear hands-on examples. Not to mention a few intuitive results which surprise you here and there.
