Summary: principles of internet marketing (Ward Hanson)
Review: This book provides good insight into internet marketing for anyone who is interested in this growing and important area of commerce. Each chapter could be read independently. Chapters 8-12 are great for people wanting to start e-commerce. I found the book technically great and at the same time accessible to the average Joe (who is not a business major)! The book is a must for all companies and individuals doing e-commerce!

Summary: Very good, but dated
Review: This is a classic. One of the most serious earlier works on the topic. Professor Hanson brought a very solid theoretical framework to Web marketing. The book came at a time when we finally all wanted to get more rigouros with the "New Economy". I perused it again recently for a seminar I am giving, and it is still an excellent reference book. I would give four stars to an updated edition. I don't know if they are planning it.

Summary: A very practical book - I love it !
Review: This is a great book on internet marketing. Unlike many other books on similar subjects I have read , I found this book most practical - and closest to the need in the real business world ! Lots of very interesting case studies in it, and most important of all, the book contains a lot of very useful and updated researches and statistics that confirms a lot of beliefs ( and clear lots of doubts) I have had in my job. Don't be put-off by the title of the book " Principles of Internet marketing" - they are not pure academic / classroom-type "principles", they are very applicable to the real business world ! If you are working in the internet marketing area, or if you plan to enter this field, don't miss this book !!!

Summary: An Expensive Textbook
Review: This textbook is required for my E-commerce class. From cover to cover, this little dynamo is just under 1" thick and cost about at the bookstore (about per page.) Other than the price, the book seems pretty good. The book provides a comparison of the internet to other industries which had uncertain futures, such as radio and electricity and how those industries grew. It also analyzes the some of ways companies are using the internet to reduce costs. In addition, the book explains some of the ways companies are using the internet to create a competitive advantage.

Summary: Quantification of lessons learned
Review: Ward Hanson's book does an excellent job of quantifying useful lessons and guidelines from the many Internet marketing plays that have succeeded and failed over the brief history of the commercial net. A must read for anybody who is serious about the net.
