Summary: Doesn't follow volume?
Review: Gary Smith does not believe in volume at all in day trading! Volume is essential for trading, especially day trading. When I read that part, the book lost all credibility.

Summary: A Classic Trading Book
Review: Gary Smith has done a masterful job describing how he trades for a living. Although the author primarily now trades mutual funds, the strategies outlined in his book are just as applicable for traders of individual stocks, stock index futures, and stock index options. What I appreciated most about this classic trading book was the uniqueness of the trading techniques presented, especially how Mr. Smith combines market sentiment with market momentum. Anyone who is serious about ever trading for a living and understanding the price action of the stock market needs this book.

Summary: The Best Book on Trading - Ever
Review: Gary Smith is probably one of the most successful traders of the new-economy yet trades in an old-economy fashion and doesn't get much attention. His book is a work of genius, it puts events that effected our stock market into perspective, what he did to trade during them and he also explains everything in easy to read terms. This book is the best book on securities trading any investor can hope to read.

Summary: Very Helpful
Review: Gary's book was very helpful to me. It gave me a lot of insight on trading techniques. He confused me by saying that he did not use Technical analysis, yet the book covered it extensively. Gary does no online trading. He makes all of his trades via phone to his broker.

Summary: Here is the "Key" and this is the path - Godspeed my Friend
Review: How I trade for a living by Gray Smith. When I opened the book and read the first words .... Nicholas Darvas. My eyes just swelled up. Nicholas Darvas, Nicholas Darvas - that's my Hero. I thought I was the only one that knew. I really couldn't turn the page for a half-hour. Now how am I going to read this book. This guy's great and I haven't gotten to page 1 yet. To that desperate trader - Thank you, Thank you. Excuse me for a second, I'm just going to run outside and shout. I want to hug everybody - an the last thing I do is hug. A tree will do just fine. His recommended book list - even that's great. "Books 1 through 7 in the following list are my favorite books..." AH AH Sorry dude, you got one wrong, Book number three is....

Summary: ANOTHER KEEPER FOR MY INVESTMENT LIBRARY
Review: HOW I TRADE FOR A LIVING contains the nuts and bolts of making a living investing without making all the mistakes new or seasoned investors seem to make. What I like most about this book is that Gary self-discloses his methods that makes him able to be one of the few people I have read about who lives entirely on his investment decisions. There are only two other authors that trade for a living that I would recommend to readers. No. Make that three authors. Gillette Edmunds wrote (1)"How To Retire Early and Live Well With Less Than A Million Dollars" and (2)"Comfort Zone Investing." A second author I recommend is R. Max Bowser who has written three books: (1)"Guaranteed Profits With Small Stocks: The Only Stock Market System That Comes With A $5,000 Guarantee" (2)"Making Dollars With Pennies: How The Small Investor Can Beat The Wizards On Wall Street" and (3)"Penny Stock Winners: True Stories Of Successful Investors."
And while I am mentioning other authors, the third and richest author/trader that I have ever read about is Peter Lynch.

Summary: An outstanding book
Review: How I Trade for a Living is an outstanding book by an exceptional trader. The momentum and divergence patterns discussed by the author in Chapter 12 are unique and original and I'm looking forward to incorporating some of them into my own trading. This book gets my highest recommendation and should be on the bookshelf of every aspiring trader.

Summary: A Trader's Delight
Review: How I Trade for a Living is chock full of innovative insights for understanding the action of the stock market. As a professional trader myself, I highly recommend this book for anyone seeking an edge in the trading of stocks, mutual funds, and stock index futures and options. Any trader such as Mr. Smith who has traded $2,000 into $1,000,000 has my full and immediate attention.

Summary: Marginally usefull
Review: I found Gary's references to his dollar gains deceptive. In my opinion, dollars earned do not have much meaning, percentage returns have more meaning. $1 earned on $100 is more ;-) as compared to $1 earned on $10,000.

Summary: Superb book!
Review: I have read both of Gary Smith's books (Live the Dream and this latest book). Both are excellent. Gary Smith separates what's important in stock futures trading from the garbage. He reveals numerous contrarian strategies, sentiment indicators, and some technical indicators that he follows. People, trading successfully is not easy and it's not a static system. Everything is constantly evolving. Reading Smith's books has driven this point home with me. Smith also stresses the importance of being able to synthesize particular indicators to get a feel for how to trade. Excellent, insightful book! I feel sorry for others who strongly disagree...perhaps you'll reconsider after your trading account dwindles. (And no, I'm not related to Gary Smith.)
