Review: I don't like to read, but i read this book 2 times, the first to learn and the second just for fun, Kathy: you really know how to make me laugh. I had anybody to ask about anything and my natal languaje is not english, just this book and i learned a lot. One more thing: Thanks Kathy, you maked me pass with 95% !!!!!!

Summary: Great Even if you are not taking the exam
Review: Let me make a quick note about what qualities should the certification book have and we will go from there.

Certification exams must check your knowledge of the subject trying not to be obvious. Subsequently they make you look at issue that you might have been completely familiar under different, sometimes extremly surprising angle. In order to make you prepared to look at the same issue at any given, sometimes unpredictable angle, you should understand the tiny details of the subject, especially the why's of the design.
From this follows, that a good certification book on programming is inherently the one, that not only teaches you tricks of test taking, but more importantly makes you understand the why's (raison d'etre) of particular subject and teaches you the art of looking at the subject from different perspectives.

This book is by an order of magnitude above many certification books (which are just enumeration of tricks) that I encountered on any subject.

And yes, I didn't throw the book in a garbage can after passing the exam like many other cert books; I like to browse it once in a while for its great insights.

In conclusion, the good cert guide helps you pass the exam,
the great guide stays with you even long after the exam.
On older version I believe I had heard some negative comments, but believe me this one is a PLATINUM edition.

Review: Kathy's book makes Peter Heller's exam book (called Complete Java 2 Certification Study Guide) look awful in comparison. Kathy has perfected the art of "what readers are looking for". Way to go Kathy! You sure know how to make reading fun!

Summary: Give 2 readings and get certified.
Review: Great book to get certified in SCJP. I read just this book twice and got certified. Because of its humor, it would be an interesting book for java beginners who wanna get certified.
