Summary: Full of intentional misstatement...
Review: Start with the first "essay" by Jeremy Walter. He perpetuates the myth that the analysis of the sediments deposited by Mt St Helens after its famous eruption "proves" that the Grand Canyon could have been formed quickly. First, the ash and other sediments are a far cry from hard rock; it takes much less time to "erode" them than it did the Grand Canyon. Second, the volume-vs-time scale is grossly underestimated - using the correct volume for sediment removed, and assuming that the rate of removal is the same for rock (which it wouldn't be), it would still indicate a formation time for the Grand Canyon of at least a million years. Additionally, the Grand Canyon exhibits characteristics that can ONLY be explained by long-term erosive effects and would not occur if it was formed over the less-than-a-year period espoused by the Morrises and their YEC comrades.

Summary: You have got to be kidding!
Review: The "scientists" in this book seem to have a high correlation
with the Answers in Genesis and Institute for Creation Research
hacks, who have been misrepresenting science for years.

They have dragged out the same old tired arguments from personal incredulity and distortions of the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics originated by the P.T. Barnum of Creation Science, Henry Morris.

Summary: Smashing in all the areas of science!
Review: This book covered a lot of aspects of God's creation along with the creation/evolution controversy. The testimonies of these scientists show that the evolution propaganda of the last century has been devestating to science and devestating to anyone who wants to have a different opinion apart from the flemsy circumstantial evidence supposedly supporting the evolution religion. Read it and see why these scientists and many others reach out to their Creator.

Summary: Great Testimonies
Review: This book is a must have. Inside 50 scientists write about why they believe in a young earth and about how this view changed their lives. This is the book that many people have said doesn't exist. Remarks you often run into when discussing evolution with proponents of darwinism is, 'No scientist doubts the evolution has occured' or that 'No real scientist accepts the idea of a global flood and a young earth'. Yet this book proves them wrong. 50 scientists, ranging from various disciplines, are proof that not every scientist accepts darwinism.

So, while some will write off this book by calling these scientists a slim minority, there is no argument over whether all scientists accept darwinism and reject biblical creationism. The answer is clear, ALL SCIENTISTS DO NOT ACCEPT DARWINISM AND ALL SCIENTISTS DO NOT REJECT BIBLICAL CREATIONISM. Those who choose to beleive that all scientists reject creationism are confusing naturalistic philosophy with science. They are confusing historical statements with scientific statements. Historical theories are outside the scope of science; and in the case of the origins of life deal with information that is not emperical, not repeatable and not observable. Darwinism is an historical event. Biblical Creationism is an historical event. Both theories have so much plasticity that they can easily dismiss, ignore, or reject any objections to their theory. In short both theories are historical theories and thus not scientific theories. Anyone that claims science has proved or disproved an historical theory fails to understand what science is.

Summary: For those interested in truth...
Review: This book is gold. Quite obviously some people don't like it (just read some of the other reviews) and aren't even remotely willing to consider that evolution has many major flaws that some scientists aren't as prepared to overlook.

An undecided but open-minded reader should get something out of this book, as will many creationists seeking to understand better some of the issues, but if you have made your mind up that evolution is absolutely true, you're better off spending your time coming up with some better reasons why a few dozen highly qualified scientists would believe in a six-day creation than the following inaccurate reasons given by other reviewers here:

1) Creationists regularly lie

2) Creationists can't be real scientists

3) Creationists approach the issue with preconceived ideas that they fit the facts around.

4) All evolution is science

5) Thermodynamics is not a problem for evolution

This book addresses all these arguments (and much more) and it's simply not true to claim that evolutionists have refuted many of the points (or all) raised in the essays here.

I work in the media and I can't help but think that something smells when outspoken supporters of evolution so often resort to name-calling and intimidation to press their point. It reeks of the very anti-knowledge campaigns they claim creationists use - or even worse - their case is weak.

Most creationists I have actually taken the time to observe remain calm and willing to approach any evidence with an open mind. Check out the writing styles of each of the essays in this book. There is no underlying message that you're an embarrassment to the human race if you believe in evolution. Conversely, just about every evolution book, every evolution website, every evolution Radio program, TV doco, movie etc... uses various forms of intellectual snobbery to try to prove its point and put people down. Frankly, I find this offensive and closed-minded. The human race deserves better.

Read this book for a breath of fresh air.

Summary: A counter-effective book
Review: This book is the most counter-effective exercise in persuasion that I have met. It appears to provide to people with creationist sympathies the supporting intellectual arguments that they might otherwise lack. In practice, it does the opposite. I admit that I approached the book with evolutionist views but as science provides only probabilistic conclusions and all these merit assault, I was interested to find out what were the best arguments that creationists could assemble. But these! Are these the best the creationists can offer?
There are several arguments that occur many times and all could be demolished even in a review such as this one. I will give one example.
About a quarter of the essayists claim that the second law of thermodynamics prohibits evolution. Dr. Don B. Deyoung states it thus, "It describes unavoidable losses in any process whatsoever which involves transfer of energy. The energy does not disappear but some always becomes unavailable, often as unusable heat. Stated another way, everything deteriorates, breaks down and becomes less ordered with time". This is nearly right but not quite. It states only that the entropy (disorder) of a closed system AS A WHOLE steadily increases. It does not prohibit decreases in entropy (more order) within a closed system provided they are local and temporary. If he and all the other essayists who consistently omit this truth were right, there would be no mountain building, no rain, no tides, no photosynthesis and therefore no life. Agreed that the solar system as a whole (a closed system) is suffering steadily increasing entropy (more disorder) but within it, locally and temporarily, more order is permitted and we are some of it. The denials of this by people with Ph. D. degrees are astonishing or sinister. Take your pick.
There are similar examples relating to the role of chance, the fossil record and dating techniques. If you want to become an evolutionist, read this book.

Review: This book shows that stupidity in the cause of religion knows no limits.

Summary: Other References
Review: This books just shows America's craze in the last century is more than just a craze, it's a retalition against science. This presents the views of few estranged scientists, try reading Larson's Summer of the Gods or Gilkey's Creationism on Trial for a more equitable view of the creationism v. evolution debate!

Summary: Candid thoughts about Young Earth Creationism by Scientists
Review: This is a candid view of 60 of today's scientist in varying fields of study. I was amazed the way that, for the most part, they were able to communicate to the puplic in a language that we non-scientists could understand their thoughts about how God created everything in 6 days. Also, they talk about why they feel that it could not have happened any other way! Praise God!
