Rating: Summary: As went 'spontaneous generation' so goes 'evolution' ... Review: My dictionary defines science as "systematized knowledge derived from observation, study, and experimentation carried on in order to determine the nature or principles of what is being studied." Mr. Perloff does a good job of showing the lack scientific observation in support of macro-evolution. In fact, the scientific observations show unequivocal support for super-genious intelligent design. God-haters better find a different lie to lean on, as the 20th century myth of evolution has been exposed! I can't imagine that the one-star reviewers even read the book. Louis Pasteur disproved the theory of spontaneous generation in his day, and the scientific community accepted it, resulting in great advances in medical science. How long will the scientific community take to have the humility and courage to concede to the fallacy of evolution? How long does our world need to suffer the social consequences of the theory of evolution? Get the book and share it with others until the defeat is thorough.
Rating: Summary: The Myth of Creationism Review: I believe the author has seriously confused fact and fiction. If you're interested in yet another book of mental gymnastics by an alleged scientist this is right up your alley. I don't think this guy would know the scientific method if it bit him on the hand. Do yourself a favor and check out any of the great books out there on how real science is done by real scientists and how to tell the difference.
Rating: Summary: He's Got to Be Kidding Review: Perloff totally fails in his argument against Darwin. Billed as a scientific argument against Darwinism, Perloff instead presents what amounts to a philosophical argument based on false assumptions rather than empirical evidence. Fundamentalist Christians should love this book, any serious readers will consider it a crude joke.
Rating: Summary: Here we go again. Review: Although I can empathize with the trepidation that some (including Perloff) may feel when scientific evidence contradicts a deeply held personal belief. This book is a poor attempt to refute a fact supported by a tremendous amount of evidence. The book is based entirely on a need to ensure that nothing contradict a Biblically literalist Christian interpretation of natural history. The book's scientific evidence is unfounded and it uses the fallacious practice of appealing to authority, e.g., stating that Issac Newton was a creationist. (Of course Newton was a creationist, evolutionary ideas had not yet been coherently proposed when Newton lived.) Read Finding Darwin's God by Kenneth Miller for a sympathetic, Christian (though certainly not Biblically literalist) and well reasoned discussion of these issues. Miller also carefully shows the unfoudedness of Perloff's supposedly scientific refutation of evolution.
Rating: Summary: Creationalists are close minded fools Review: OPEN YOURS EYE AND BLIND ME WITH YOUR LIGHT NOW! This book is complete waste of paper. Darwin (our savior) should be spinning in his grave right now because of the complete misinterpretation of his genius theory. LOOK AT THE FACTS not the propaganda that is represented in this book. READ The Blind Watch Maker by Richard Dawkins he rips this ... tornado [stuff] apart.
Rating: Summary: Five Stars Review: Tornado in a Junkyard is a logical, very well-written and fully documented presentation of the facts. This is the best creation-SCIENCE book I've read. This book explains why evolution never happened (and never will), by examining the data, from several areas of study, which evolutionists traditionally use to prove the theory. Fraud is exposed and social consequences brought to light. ******* Get this book! *******
Rating: Summary: Theory of Evolution Is Pure Bunk Review: The folks who actually believe that Evolution is fact and not fiction, do not know anything about the originator of this myth. Darwin himself finally admitted that evolution is not probable. Modern high tech science is disproving evolution. If you have read the book, please re-read what Darwin has said about the eye, that it could not have evolved. If you believe that your ancestors came from an ameba, then you still are waiting for your brain to evolve....word of advice, DON'T HOLD YOUR BREATH.
Rating: Summary: Please, don't waste your money on this trash. Review: Nothing more than a Bible thumper regurgitating creationist babble. Complete BS. I cannot believe someone wasted their time writing such an ignorant and closed-minded "book." It reads like propaganda. The only thing James Perloff proves is that he has wasted thousands of dollars on an education. Look what he's done with it. Pity.
Rating: Summary: Amazed at the Arrogance-- And You Should be Too Review: I am disturbed at the certainty of people who believe that Perloff's *Torndao In a Junkyard* is a refreshing and thorough treatment of Evolution. Considering that Evolutionary science follows the same strict, proffesional rules that all other feilds obey, it is irrational to believe Perloff's stale arguments are a death knoll, let alone the last word. Perloff uses the same stale arguments creationists have used for thirty years; he says nothing new that cannot be refuted. His arguement refering to a tornado turning a junkyard into a 747 is a classic argument which has been refuted years ago by people far wiser than myself or the supporters. But because of his tone and formulaic examples it is very easy for even an educated person to be fooled by his words. (...) I suggest that people take a good hard look at some of the evolution material for themselves. I own a copy of Charles Darwin's *On the Origin of Species* and I can't say that Perloff hits the mark anywhere close when he hammers away.
Rating: Summary: Beginners: Start Here. Others: Enjoy the Review. Review: Having studied issues involved in the debate of creation vs evolution for years, I don't expect to find much, if anything, new in a book supporting either side. I did find something pleasantly new in this book however: a new attitude. Perloff, in contrast to some people's ideas of people who accept that the world was created, didn't even believe in God for years. He frankly shares how he used to feel, and gives a lively recital of how solid scientific evidence and sound logic lead him to realize that the mythical history produced by evolutionary thought is not possible. Along the way, he presents the evidences and reasoning in a flowing manner which kept me reading even though I'm familiar with the material, as well as the evolutionists' "refutations" and the creationists' responses to them. So, not only will beginners get a well-rounded introduction to the subject, but those "in the know" will get a fresh look at the old battlegrounds. If nothing else, Perloff puts the lie to the old adage that you have to be born and raised that way to be a creationist.
