Summary: Powerful stuff!
Review: Enjoyed it! Our management team has studied this book a chapter at a time for months now. It provokes great discussion and has helped us learn as individuals what responsibility is REALLY all about. There are many stories that encourage personal application. We have now switched to Miller's new book titled "QBQ! The Question Behind the Question." We're using this one for staff throughout the firm. Same powerful core content on personal accountability but a quicker read at only 115 pages. It's his "Who Moved My Cheese Version?" and is right on target with its message, speed, and impact.

Summary: Powerful stuff!
Review: I oversee a realestate office of 50 sales associates & have used this book for several sales meetings regarding dealing with people. In this book the author shares stories and uses examples of people who really care to make a difference to others. Spending our time whinning, picking on & complaining about things is a waste of otherwise very useable energy that could be channeled towards a more positive experience for someone, including ourselves. Many, many lessons can be learned from reading this book and from these lessons hopefully some ideas of ways of enjoying what we do & taking personal responsibilty for a positive end result.

Summary: A good idea smothered in anecdotes
Review: Reading the first 60 pages will give you the books content in summary form. By the time you have pushed through the next 240 you'll have to go back to remind yourself of what the point was of the book.

The idea of personal accountability IS conveyed very well and easy to understand in the format it is conveyed in. Some stories do drive the points home, but others are just stories.

If you like tales of goofy flight attendants, you'll love the book. If you are looking for a deeper message, stick to the 1st part of the text.

Summary: Are you asking the right question?
Review: The author assists the reader in identifying key words that may imply that the wrong question is being asked. He then provides learning steps to consider the real issues and questions in accountability. I found the book somewhat ponderous at times but also convicting. This book is suitable for management team book chapter reviews.

Summary: Personal Accountability and the QBQ work!
Review: The book Personal Accountability is the result of a lifetime of watching everybody blame everybody for everything. I've discovered that if I can avoid Victim Thinking, Blame, and Procrastination and choose the High Road - the Path to Personal Accountability - great things can happen in all areas of my life. I believe we tend to teach to others what we need to hears ourselves, so I want you to know this material is for me. As a father of four, a husband of 19 years, a professional keynote speaker, and an author, I need to practice Personal Accountability in my life in all the roles I play.

I sold leadership and sales training to corporations for 9 years and sat inside a 1,000 firms in all industries. I watched as people asked questions like "Why do we have to go through all this change?", "When is someone going to train me?", "When are we going to find good people?" and "Who made the mistake?" Then, I realized if we could just stop, in the moment, and make a better choice by asking The Question Behind the Question (QBQ) we'd prosper. A QBQ looks like "How can I develop myself?", "What can I do to adapt to the changing world?", "How can I contribute?" and "What can I do to be a more effective coach/leader today?" These questions put me on that High Road - the path to Personal Accountability.

The book has two parts. Part I is all about the QBQ, how to use it, and what it can do for our lives at work and home. Part II explores the Pillar Principles, ideas like Courage, Excellence, Ownership, Trust, and Integrity. These timeless truths are brought to life using the QBQ methodology of accountable thinking.

The book is story-based, light hearted yet life changing, and 12 point type, short paragraphs, and plenty of "white space" for those who are frightened of 300 pages!

Please, I invite you to learn, change, and grow. If, after reading the book, you'd ever like to discuss the content with me, call 800-774-0737. Enjoy!

Summary: This Book Was a Real Eye Opener
Review: This book is worth its weight in gold. I have read many books in the area of self-improvement, and I must say this one is of the top. The author gets very personal and talks openly about his own personal accountability. Even though it was lengthy read, I did not find this book repetitive. The book is written in a style that it sounds like John is talking to you one on one. It's contains very powerful ideas, while at the same time it is extremely practical. I fully endorse this book.
