Summary: From Coffee-table Book to Study Guide
Review: This book is wonderfully written and thought provoking. Written in coffee-table style, with facing pages containing a complete thought, making it wonderful for times when you don't have lots of time to read. It goes beyond the young earth viewpoint to the whole of God's creation, man's fall and the consequences of that action, and the fantastic plan of salvation prepared by the Father for His children. I have read this book more than a dozen times and it continues to be a frequented reference during school as well as adult conversation.

Summary: Unbelievable, Great, Intriguing, Makes you Think
Review: This book really opens many windows to your thinking process on Creation. Every day there are more scientific facts coming out about DNA, universe being younger than once thought, Humans being younger than once thought....most of it favors the Biblical view of creation. This book has many concepts that can take you into further study on different topics of creation and civilization.

I love the graphics, pictures and color.

Author is careful about not expressing his own opinion, but helping you "THINK" some issues through.

I recommend it to every Creation as a study guide to this topic.

Summary: Why bother?
Review: This book regurgitates the standard tactical drivel used by creationists to try and promote their religions in the public school venue. The audacity of the author in using the word science astounds me, he has absolutely no concept of the true meaning of the word. If this book convinces you that evolution is a farce, you didn't need convincing, you were already opposed to the concept.

Summary: An excellent book for the layperson.
Review: This is my favorite creation/evolution book.

Wow! This book is great! Written by Dennis R. Petersen, it presents the evidence for creation-quite convincingly. He does not go very deeply into any particular subject, instead giving the reader a broad overview of almost all the subjects. The book is divided into the following four sections:

Section One UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF THE EARLY EARTH. This section is about the age of the earth, a very controversial subject. Using evidence such as moon dust and the sun, he shows how small is the augment for an old earth. I'll quote from pages 44:

"Astronomers have set up a measurement scale by which stars are calibrated according to the amount of energy they emit. Letters are designated for each star type...The 'O-type' stars are over 90,000 degrees with diameters 10,000 times the size of our sun (which has a diameter of 864,000). The 'B-type' , though not as big, are still monstrous energy burners. "These 'O' and 'B' stars are radiating more that 100,000 times the energy coming from our sun. Burning down at that rate, and clocking backward, THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE WOULD HAVE BEEN FILLED WITH THE MASS OF THESE STARS JUST A FEW THOUSAND YEARS AGO! Not millions!" Section two is called UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF EVOLUTION. In this section the author examines the basic theories on which evolution is based and using scientific evidence and common sense, he destroys them. Section three is called UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF ORIGINAL MAN AND THE MISSING LINKS. In this section the author looks at each specimen on the famous chart that "shows" how man evolved from the apes. After reading this section, any sane person is forced to admit that there is (so far) no reason to believe man and apes are related. Section four is called UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF ANCIENT CIVILIZATION. This section challenges the idea that pre-historic man was primitive. Did you know that a Chinese lady has been preserved for 2,100 years? She is so well preserved that her hair is still firmly imbedded in her scalp! This section gives many such examples that early man was not primitive. This book is best for the theistic evolutionist or the Creationist who wants to learn more about the subject.

Summary: Out dated arguements
Review: This is not a good book concerning facts. It also uses outdated material, speculative ideas, and does not back up claims with good science. It also does not utilize peer reviewed information. There are plenty of good creation books and literature available, but this is not one of them. Any evolutionist will chew this up.

Summary: great book on creation vs. evolution!
Review: This is one of the greatest books about creation that I have ever read. The author shows the fallacies and presuppositions of evolution in very easy to understand terms. The author also demonstrates the clear evidences supporting the creation view. I would certainly recommend this book to anyone. Good Job Mr. Peterson.

Summary: Older Research, But Still Interesting.
Review: UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF CREATION is a visually stunning book that is divided into four different sections. The first section of the book talks about the creation, what nature tells us about the creation, how the Great Flood fits into science, and the unreliability of radiocarbon dating. The second section talks about evolution and the flaws in the theory of evolution. The third section is tightly connected with the second and illustrates "missing links" that were frauds, what happened to dinosaurs, and some often overlooked archeological finds that most people have never heard about. The fourth and final section of the book talks about ancient civilizations and how ancient man was probably more intelligent than modern man.

I found UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF CREATION to be a very interesting book. Some of the research is a bit dated and I often wondered why the author didn't use more recent quotes and magazine and journal articles than the ones he did. Nevertheless, the book raises some interesting points and made me think about some things I never thought about before. For instance, I've always believed what I was taught in school about ancient man: they lived a long time ago and weren't as intelligent as us; knowlege has only really started to increase in recent times. However, UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF CREATION made me evaluate what I had always believed. Maybe the ancients were much more intelligent than we "moderns" are. It still seems hard to believe, but I'm much more open to the idea now and can see that it is a possibility.

UNLOCKING THE MYSTERIES OF CREATION is not a flawless book. However, I think it is a good book for lay people to read. It does a good job of presenting points of view that many have been blinded to and never thought about. Plus, it's got some great pictures and illustrations. There are even a few funny pieces scattered throughout (the baloney detector, for instance: not only is it funny, but it's spelled wrong!). If you are a serious scientist, this book is not for you. However, if you are someone who is curious why your worldview always seems to collide with what you've learned in school, you might want to check this book out.

Summary: excellent book
Review: Validates Creationism, destroys evolution. A great book for refuting the drivel force-fed to everyone by the evolutionists and their lackeys in the public school systems and media.

Summary: Christians, be cautious about buying this book!!
Review: While sympathetic to many positive reviews of this book already posted to Amazon by Christians, I regretfully cannot recommend it.

First, I am a convinced Creation Science believer, and I teach science education to student teachers from a Bible-based foundation. So I am not opposing this book because it espouses a Christian view of origins.

This book cannot be recommended by any thinking Christian with scientific training or understanding. It uses outdated arguments, weak support for controversial ideas, uses speculative ideas as if they were well documented, and so on. The REAL problem with this book is that it is likely to be seized upon by well-meaning Christians who are not aware of the logical and scientific holes in its arguments (just read some reviews on this site). The opposite side is that evolutionists will almost certainly cite this book as evidence that Christians don't know what they are talking about, and their "science" is bogus. What a waste of an opportunity to give support to carefully thought-out reasons to oppose evolution's wonky ideas.

...P>There are LOTS of books to read if you are interested in finding out why evolution does not make sense, why creation fits available evidence AS WELL AS the Bible, and why Christians are fooling themselves if they believe that evolution and the Bible can both be right. This book is not one of them.
