Summary: Novel, Amusing Reading
Review: A few years ago, I took a college course on American perceptions of Jesus. Of the students in the course, I was one of the few "believers," and my classmates had become used to my thoughts on most irreverent opinions of Jesus. When confronted with assertions that Jesus was actually an advocate of wymyn's rights, a Maoist, or a Hindu, my reaction was typically something like, "This is ridiculous."

In class the morning after we read "Jesus, CEO," our professor gave me an expectant look and asked, "Well, Rick, what did you think?" I shocked the class by grinning like an idiot and telling them, "This is great stuff." The other students, many of whom had sympathized with other interpretations of Jesus, hadn't cared for Jesus, CEO, and were amazed that I would. My reasons weren't purely honorable.

I'll explain. Presented with a irreverent view of Jesus, I had generally been annoyed that someone would seriously try to make such a spurious claim. Jones' book, however, didn't bother me; I couldn't take such a ridiculous view seriously, and, free of irritation, I could enjoy the novelty of the work.

There is no great religious lesson in Jesus, CEO. I do not think there is even a great lesson in management. All of her Biblical exegesis is contrived and all of her management tips are truisms. (She makes a point to never reference the bible directly, unless she can recall the reference without looking it up.) Still, there's something entertaining about the whole spectacle, like late night television on the USA network. It's a light read, small, and cheap. If you've got some time to kill, and an interest in this sort of curiosity, Jesus, CEO is worth a few hours and a few dollars.

Summary: Helpful advice for anyone in the relationship business
Review: A therapist loaned me this book because it exemplified successful relationships being built on timeless principles. I found useful advice and strategies on every page. Even if you're not a CEO--and just a sister, mother, wife or friend--these short essays will change the way you see the world of people we live in and give you a new way of relating to them. Wonderful!

Summary: Beware! This is not written from a Christian perspective!
Review: As a business consultant I can say that there is nothing wrong in this book. As a Christian, however, I must say that everything in this book is wrong. Jones is many things, but a child of the Kingdom she is not.

Here's the proof: She has no idea what the mission of Jesus was and claims that He "let go" of His mission -- that He failed! On page 12 of the book she states the mission of Jesus was to "teach people about a better way of life." No, Laurie Beth, that's Zig Ziglar's mission! Jesus' mission was to come and die as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. He did not come to teach the law, but to fulfil it. On page 157 of the book she clains that Jesus looked at his mission on the cross and then "let it go" implying that he failed or left it incomplete. How terribly wrong and misguided she is! His words "It is finished" mark the fulfillment of his mission -- perhaps the only human in history to be able to truly say so. H! e let it go because it was complete, not unfinished.

Jones' book says nothing new about management. She has just managed to hook herself onto the coat strings of the most famous name in the history of the earth. Her beliefs about Jesus are clearly non-Christian and should not be read in any way as application of the faith. Her theology is erred, the foundation of the book flawed. Her conclusions and teachings, therefore, are not those of Jesus but of Laurie Beth Jones. Spend your time profitably -- pray for her and read someone else's book.

Summary: Inspires change and insightfullnes
Review: As a CEO myself, I will attest to the excellent inspiration that it relays to the executive. The chapters are short and to-the-point. I recommend keeping it in your desk and reading a chapter a day or so to develop more insight into the leadership technique that worked for God. As I learned from reading the text, I realized the wisdom of Christ is not really ancient at all...but are simple lessons in interacting with and leading people that are timeless in nature. This book could change the nature of our corporations and World if it were required reading for business leaders.... The only thing that the author didn't emphasize more is the importance of communicating with our boss, Jesus, through prayer, and constantly asking for his guidance in our actions. He will makes us stronger and abler leaders.

Some chapters will hit you straight between the eyes. Business and Christianity can coexist. It helps me be a better manager. A daily devotional for anyone in business.

Summary: UN EXCELENTE LIBRO.

Summary: Leading others with your heart
Review: For many years I have been on the journey to personal development of my leadership style. I have felt for many years that God has called me to success. And being successful means helping others to become successful with you. Jesus CEO enlightned my spirit more than anything I have ever read regarding leadership styles and techniques. I understand now that it is in the wilderness experiences where God develop's the "HEART". Thanks, Laurie for the confirmation that the HEART does belong in Corporate America. May God increase your Territory!

Summary: Letting the Truth Lead
Review: I choose this book for a communication class I have been working on, the assignment was to create a speech based on a book of our choice. The speech was to be directed to a group of prospective peers in a professional environment, such as a Rotary club. The group receiving my speech was to be encouraged to follow my direction, I was to communicate to them that I was a good example of a leader and should be trusted and followed. I came across this book late into the list of acceptable choices and recalled my father reading it several years back. I cannot think of a better book to read for insight on leadership and pragmatic business. The book overlaps so many genres; it is comprehensive to any vocation, any personal investment, or any relationship. Laurie Beth Jones also paid careful attention to the lay-out, done in a logical progression of, self to others. I was particularly attracted to the rationality of using the fundamental teachings of Jesus Christ and applying them to success. I beleive all too often people/readers have difficulty seperating religion from practical day-to-day business, leadership, teaching, ect.... The way Jones presents the teachings of Christ makes it an easy read for all ages, something that I beleive is incredibly difficult. Her skill in understanding of the verses of the bible, present the theories so that people can easily make them applicable to their lives. Well done.
That simplicity is also sometimes dangerous, as people often think they have a full understanding of a subject after reading a great text said in plain easily understood language.
I had diceded to use this book for a vehicle to deliveer my speech to an imaginery group of educators, parents, and student. I was delivering it as if I were a teacher for a Christain based school district. My goal was to get people excited about getting involved as a community to teach and raise the community's children-together. I beleive we have become so isolated and so afraid of other people getting involved with our "business." People have taken their children and made them into possessions, when God's teachings clearly tell us we are all brothers & sisters. We clearly need one another, what perfect reminder of that than the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.

Summary: Elementary, 3 page chapters, For NOVICE LEADERS/READERS
Review: I had greater expectaions and was hoping to learn some new theories/thoughts about management, nothing new found in this book. This book could be o.k. for the NOVICE manager/reader. It didn't take much visionary leadership to understand the authors thoughts. Extremely basic, like i.e. "He formed a team" The chapters consist of an average of three (3) pages. I rated this book 1 star,I was surprised there wasn't any pictures? However, the Bible is an excellent source with management dealings, stick with it!
