Summary: Good Reference for the Leader
Review: Maxwell's title focuses on 21 qualities needed for successful leadership and devotes a chapter summarizing each quality. While I tend to agree with others that Maxwell's books sometimes can be simplistic and full of hype, this particular title is a timely read in light of the ...failures the world has seen in the areas of politics, business, and religion.

Some of the helpful pointers Maxwell offers include:

1. Ways to improve your listening.
2. Improving your problem-solving ability.
3. 3 things needed to cultivate better relationships with others.
4. Traits of insecure leaders.
5. Ways to improve your teachability.
6. Ways to improve your servanthood.
7. Imroving your discernment.
8. Cultivating generosity with others.

In my opinion, this title is better than some of Maxwell's other books because of the focus on character.

All in all, a good read. While Maxwell is an authority on leadership and has a readable writing style, there are better authors and books out there!

Summary: Character
Review: I have read all of John C. Maxwell's books and can recommend them to everyone. This one, "The 21 Indispensable Qualities Of A Leader", is about character. I did find this one useful, too. However, as one who has probably read everything on the subject over the years, I have to suggest that you also read the book that is becoming the premier standard on character, "West Point: Character Leadership Education, A Book Developed From The Readings And Writings Of Thomas Jefferson" by Norman Thomas Remick. It's the only book I have ever read that reaches the heart and answers the questions, "What is character?" and "What is leadership?".

Summary: This book is good
Review: Personally, i think the 21 qualities that is mentioned is quite a good "checklist" for those who wish to become a better leader.
MR. John C. Maxwell had organised a listing for us, which personally i think had largely benefit me. By reading this book now i know what i suppose to have (The qualities) in advance in order to be a good leader rather than keep on blaming why others just don't listen to me. It did help me a lot...

Summary: This book helped me get my girlfriend
Review: The basic principles of leadership are character, hard work, and a focus on others. Multiply these by 7 and you have the 21 Indespensible Qualities. J. Maxwell's books are inspirational and if you're open to the message, they can be life changing. While reading this book my management style shifted a little and immediately there were favorable results as my co-workers began to feed off of my newfound leadership aspects. I highly recommend this text.

Summary: I have been changed
Review: I have been changed by this book. Anybody who doesn't like this book is obviously one of the examples of a bad leader used in this book. I learnd how to become a better leader and how to motivate others who are accountable to me. Because of this book I have bought several of John Maxwell's books and I have made leaps and bounds in my personality. I recommend this book... especially for pastors!!!

Review: The truth is this book is deemed great because it is not bound by cultural overtones. It is a real practical guide to good leadership by any standard.

Summary: Get The Whole Picture
Review: A typically well done and practically informative Maxwell book. Let me give you a tip. Read this for its practical power. Then, read my favorite on the philosophical basis of leadership. "West Point" by Norman Thomas Remick.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: 41/2 Stars
Review: Not a simple philosophical education on leadership like "West Point" by Norman Thomas Remick, but a real well written and interesting offering. I'd certainly recommend it.
