Summary: Great Book with Great Principles
Review: This was a good book just reminding us of what types of things we need to do to make our management style more effective. Basic tools and principles, that when applied, success will follow. It is always refreshing to be reminded of the basics.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Practical and Inspiring
Review: I listened and re-listened to the cassette tapes and found them inspiring. I especially appreciated the emphasis on developing leaders in one's wake as the mark of a true leader.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Excellent Approach
Review: The authors consolidate a wealth of knowledge of leadership into a book: this is one that is worth the money.

If you enjoy this book, which I believe you will, I suggest you also use a hot-selling and quite informative and skills-oriented book called "The Leader's Guide: 15 Essential Skills."

Summary: Finally! A practical and well-worded review of the subject!
Review: I found this book to be outstanding! Maxwell has taken his time to share from both a business and pastoral environment - both of which are demanding of quality leaders in today's world. He is able to cut to the chase and provide practical, learnable examples to everyone, regardless of their leadership experience. A must read for anyone in, or planning on being in, a leadership role. Thank you John Maxwell.

Summary: Better than other books on leadership...
Review: An excellent book. The only thing that I didn't get that I wanted was more information on : 1. When more than one leader are attempting to lead the same organization 2. Transitioning leaders

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Share with your managers
Review: I found this book to be extremely helpful in getting managers to understand the delicate task of leadership. Those prone to domination and intimidation are not your leaders. Those with the titles are not automatically your leaders. If they're not following, you're not leading.

Summary: TERRIBLE!
Review: Quite a disappointing book. I could not even finish it. While the author is a pastor and could have applied these to running the church in his community, leading an organization is a bit different. He does not draw upon enough examples in the real world.I am willing to give my book to anyone who wants it.

Summary: Regardless of experience, this book is a leadership MUST!!!
Review: I have been involved with leadership and management for 16 years in my present company. I have attended several schools which promise the teaching of very important leadership principles. This simple to read, hard to put down book is a leadership course surpasses any leadership "formal" course I have ever attended. This book is for everyone, at any level. A must in any managers colection. Reading this book, understanding and applying the Laws of leadership has incrreased my service base and has added to the strength of of foundation. I fully recommend this book as the best book I have read.

Summary: Too much bulk but a lot of good sence
Review: The essence of the message in this book could have been caught in a book half the size. The examples given are mostly from sports. It does not go in depth enough to be much more than interesting reading. It gives a few AHAAs, but is not really a handbook. The most interesting part is the application to leadership in organisations where the followers might as well quit, as with a church. I have never before considered leadership qualities in this context and it is an interesting comparison to business leadership where, after all, most of the people are dependent on the salary they get. Despite the too strong focus on vague examples from sports, the overall concept is trustworthy and there is really nothing in the book to directly disagree with. Don't expect too much but by all means, read it.

Summary: Quick to the point insights on what makes a leader a leader!
Review: John Maxwell delivers maximum impact without excessive details. Each chapter provides excellent meaningful insights into the basic concepts of leadership. His approach allows the reader to quickly understand the individual "Laws of Leadership" and offers down to earth examples. It motivates the leader to look at their own abilities and provides realistic methods of skillfull improvments.
