Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK EVER ON LEADERSHIP! Review: "This is one great book on leadership. The author
Rating: Summary: I'm having all my VPs read it! Review: What an excellent book! I couldn't put it down. I've witnessed some of these Laws being used by different Leaders over the years, but never really thought about them as a whole until reading this book. I can't begin to list all the many ways this book has helped me as a young Leader, striving to be a GREAT LEADER. If Executives haven't read this book, they are really missing out on the keys to being a Great Leader. Spread the word!
Rating: Summary: A bit simplistic but valuable all the same Review: OK if you are an experienced manager you probably know this already - but it is always nice to be reminded. Easy to follow with an anecdote or two for each of the 'laws' - some from Maxwell's own experience, some from history and some from contempories. What distinguishes this from the trite are his views on the relationship between sacrifice and leadership, his PLAN AHEAD acronym and the law of explosive growth. A good reminder of what we need to aspire to and why.
Rating: Summary: Good beginning Review: I liked the book, but like others I was looking for more application than theory. If you can get past Maxwell's logic on how the examples explain EVERYTHING and determine how to apply the laws to your own situation you will do well to read the book. One reason his book doesn't explain how to apply the laws is because he has published numerous video tapes, audio tapes, and other books that you can buy which do explain how to apply them. In the video series on this book each of the "21 Laws" has references listed (which are published by Maxwell, imagine that)which cost hundreds of dollars. If you bought all of them they would cost almost $3000! He has a good system but it is very expensive. THe book is not meant to teach you everything, it is only a beginning. Learning leadership takes a lot of time and money if you are going to learn it from Maxwell. If he put everything into one book it would be a VERY BIG BOOK and Maxwell wouldn't make as much money as he does from the complete series......
Rating: Summary: Timeless Review: 1. This is a great investment of your money, because you can always refer to it and remind yourself quickly and efficiently what's important and what you must focus on. Maxwell distills what you need to know in a caring and giving manner. 2. His work will remain among the classics along with new works that should be part of your personal and professional library, which my company uses. Further recommend any hard-hitting and best-selling book on leadership, such as (1-Minute Manager) and (The Leader's Guide: 15 Essential Skills).
Rating: Summary: A Great Book for both Developing and Developed Leaders Review: John Maxwell was mentioned to me first by the leader I work for. He described how each of the executives within our company have been infected with the bug of leadership development, all by reading John Maxwell books. After starting our conversation, I purchased this book and could not put it down. The interesting part of this book is that it requires you to develop your own application. Ironically, that appears to be the biggest complaint from unsatisfied readers. However, in order to become a leader in your own right, you must be able to make decisions and develop your own, relevant application of the principles. Since reading this book, I have shared it with other leaders and developing leaders I know, many of whom already have read the book. In moving conversations to leadership, you will find yourself developing the leaders around you, which in turn continues your leadership development. Share the wealth!
Rating: Summary: Maxwell is the messenger Review: The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership is a masterful presentation of the principles of leadership. The content is both as significant and as important as Covey's 7 Habits; but, Maxwell's 21 Laws are much more fun to read and more easily understood.
Rating: Summary: A Guideline for Personal Achievement Review: Maxwell does a marvelous job in providing an enjoyable and profound book. Maxwell's style provides for easy reading yet leaves ample room for self analysis and improvement. Despite life's complexities, this book proves that still the core of personal and business achievement still lays in common sense, determination and the right set of attitudes and values. Read on, anybody would certainly benefit from this fine work.
Rating: Summary: The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership Review: This is the book. It's a quick read with wonderful and meaningful examples. The truths of leadership are right at your finger tips. Don't pass this one by...it should be in everyones library (no matter who you lead - from the CEO to the Scout Leader).
Rating: Summary: 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership Review: This is the #1 leadership book and a must for all to read. This is the best Leadership guide for Independent Business Owners. A must read. The best learning tool for leadership I have read.
