Summary: You don't have to be in the medical field to enjoy this book
Review: This book brought me to tears. Not because of anything related to being a P.A. Actually, about half of this book is about being part of a large, international mission. Having served with a large mission for 18 years (in some of the same locations Mike visited, actually) and gone through some of the same heartaches he and his family went through, I could really relate to the pain he experienced. It was wonderful to see that someone else had gone through it, too, and could do a good job describing what it was like. A good book for missions administrators.

Summary: A MUST READ for anyone in healthcare!!!!
Review: This book is so funny and compelling. Michael Jones takes you on an insiders journey into the life and struggles of a Physician Assistant. Anyone in the healthcare profession would enjoy reading this book and can relate to many of his experiences. The book begins with very humorous tales and ends on a more serious note, that pulls on your heart. This is a touching story of what it takes to become a PA. I believe it should be required reading to enter PA school.

Summary: Simply a great book
Review: When I read the great review about Mr. Jones' book in the Mining Journal, I had to buy it. I am a RN and I personally knew Mike. I worked with him during those difficult years that he shares in his book. The book was hilarious, I laughed until I cried, and not just because I knew some of the characters. But I was disappointed in Mike because he tells the story in a humble way. leaving out much about himself and his family that would have put him in a better light. He is the most compassionate caregiver I've ever met. He experienced some difficult things in those days, and he fought the system with great courage, somewhat like an Erin Brockovich. He is anything but a wimp. He was (is) one of the greatest family men I've ever met. His life was consumed with building tree houses, skate parks, ice rinks and basketball courts for his kids. He stayed in some difficult job situations because his family loved the UP of Michigan, (which is not a PA-friendly area) and he wanted to stay here for them.

I wish everyone could read this very funny and moving story. I wish every reader could have known the real Mike like I did. I am looking forward to seeing the movie!

RP, RN
