Summary: An Almost Impossible Wealth of Information!
Review: I can't say enough about this book. I somehow got a used copy, and I was hooked. Everything from planetary data to solvents to area codes to logarithms to the most comprehensive conversion table I have ever seen... Even the sections that you will probably never personally use are entertaining, and there are footnotes and asides throughout the book that give it personality as well as functionality. Order yourself a copy. You won't regret it.

Summary: Keeping me busy
Review: I have had one of the first edition copies of this book in my toolbox for years. When I showed my new third edition around, I had to order back for 6 more copies. I am back today to order four more. Everyone who sees it wants one. That says it all.

Summary: Amazing reference for work, personal and trivia use!
Review: I randomly picked this book up from the gift table at Restoration Hardware. After thumbing through it, it definitely seemed worth the money. No that I've had it for a while, it's paid for itself many times over. As a software engineer, the ASCII tables get the most use. Of course, whenever I whip this book out at work, everyone around ends up looking through it and heading straight to Amazon with the ISBN.

For personal use, the "General Use" and "First Aid" sections are handy. Some of the random facts in here can be pretty entertaining. Things you've never even thought about are broken down in this book. Various mathematical equations are available at your fingertips. There's a lot of random information as well as a lot of truly helpful facts.

I know that this review has a somewhat wandering tone to it, but it's so hard to just categorize everything that this book contains. Let's put it this way, the only thing that I have expected to find in the book that wasn't there so far was a calculation to find the great circle distance on the Earth between two latitude/longitude points. Once I did track down the equation online, I realized that, with the depth needed to calculate it, it's no surprise that it was overlooked. Everything else you could possibly need is in this book though. I highly recommend it!

Summary: Biggest Little Book I've Ever Seen
Review: I've bought three copies of this book. All my friends have a copy for me to look at while I'm over at their house. I'm going to be the only one with the 2nd edition. I'd rate it right up there with my Grainger catalog.

Summary: The most indispensable reference book you'll ever own.
Review: If I were to be stranded on a desert island for the rest of my life, I'd want to have this book with me. Among the things it lists are the strengths of different types of rope, electrical wiring data of all kinds, information about the planets, time zones and ZIP codes, formulas for calculating the volume and surface areas of any shape, and mineral data of all kinds. A must have for pack rats, engineers of all kinds, any sort of technical person and anyone who wants to have virtually any sort of technical and general knowledge at his fingertips.

Summary: Every man should have one
Review: If you are a man, you must order one or we will take your man licence away! If you are a lady and have no idea what to get your man, this is it!

This book has everything you could possibly imagine and some things you didn't know existed.

Summary: trivia for you
Review: keep this in your bag/briefcase/car.
you're the life of the party, no doubt - you can answer ANYTHING.
...and if you're at all involved in construction, it's indespensible.
(and if you're just curious about everything, it's really hard to put down!)
