Summary: Great warriors win wars before the battles are fought!
Review: I fight in a fantasy/medieval wargamming club (www.darkon.org) where I have to meet my enemy on the field of battle with sword and shield. Most of the time my country members are outnumbered, out equipped or both. With this book (the term 'book' is not fitting this masterpiece!), that was given to me as a gift from my country leader we are now able to deal with what comes our way!If you need some direction or want to out-think and beat your enemy before the battle is even fought on ANY battlefield, real or business, read this book! I've read a lot of the online versions of this bok, but I've found this version retains the most meaning.

Review: Soprano always tells his psychologist how this book has changed his life and given him new insight in his 'work' each day. And have to say...its a pretty quick read and an incredible work of art. The advice given here is timeless and it kind of makes you wonder how much things in life have really changed over time. If you lead a troop or manage a team or stay home with the kids...its worth spending some time with Sun Tzu.

Review: I wanted to know if everything I had heard about this book was true. Well, everything you have heard IS true. I was amazed that some of the management techniques are still used to this day. Some of the things that the book talks about do not apply to today's world, however. Very lite reading, and one could finish this book in one day. It is a good book to read at least once.

Summary: An excellent book
Review: Sun Tzu's "The Art of War" is a great book. I have found it to be very helpful. I have applied some of the principles to sports, and it has helped very much. The principles that Sun Tzu discusses are mostly very simple. The ideas behind it though, if applied properly, could help anyone to achieve their goal. The principles can be applied to any field imaginable. The book was written in China around 500 B.C. This still does not mean that it is out dated, far from it. The principles in fighting a war still remain very similar. Sun Tzu is a military genius. His comprehension of what it takes to win a war will probably never be matched. I would recomend this book to anyone interested in being a leader. This is not just for military leaders either, but for someone who wants to be a leader anywhere. This is a must read for anyone.

Summary: Manuals don't expand your thinking... This is not a Manual
Review: The reason those in the field of Business should read this book is NOT because it is a manual of sorts for strategies and tactics relating to 'Business'. To make that assumption is erroneous, and to dismiss the book because that assumption does not hold is an even bigger mistake. As a manual for whatever conflict you are applying the book to, the most good it will do for you is to remind you of something you may have overlooked, or some better alternative solution that you may not have thought of. The book's true value lies in its ability to inspire elegant, simple, and practical solutions to a problem that may seem complex. Through reading Sun Tzu's solutions to the problem of war, your way of thinking about problems (hopefully) will naturally become more enlightened by example. In 500 BC, Sun Tzu was already thinking the nowadays cliche - 'out of the box'. His final and utmost tactic to war was to avoid it. Is the Art of War applicable to modern warfare as a manual of tactics? Sure, if only minimally. Is the Art of War applicable as rare literature that embodies problem solving, practicality, and contextual thinking? Amen. So to those seeking a good manual, go elsewhere. But to those who are able to gain intellectually from such readings: Don't miss out.

Summary: What the buzz is about
Review: I was not quite clear why their has been such a buzz about this old book. I heard that it relates to modern life and particularly, life in the business world. It fact the book does all of these things and more. While the book does not directly tell you which corporate strategies to employ, it gives the modern man philosiphy to zen upon. While in life we are often distracted by unimportant matters, The Art of War preeches that necessity of focusing on the goal. If you go into battle without a goal and a battle strategy by which to achieve this goal, you have already lost!

Summary: Of course it's a classic.
Review: I first read this book at West Point as a cadet. While many of the lessons seems basic, they are most difficult to implement. If you want an idea of modern warfare check out non-fiction like BLACKHAWK DOWN-- a superb telling of bravery and disaster. If you like fiction, read Andy McNabb's SAS books or Bob Mayer's Special Forces Books. Too many people these days have no idea what the world of the military is like, yet it is part of their reality.

Summary: Very Applicable In All Ways In Life
Review: The Art of War is much more than just a military/business strategy book. There are a great many passages within the book, that can apply to basic every day life. But, to the end of business and militaristic strategy, everything that Sun Tzu talks about in this book, very much relates to modern day 'warfare'. I felt the most important part that was never actually hit upon in the book, is that one should still remain humble even in warfare, mixing it well with aggressiveness, and wise decisionmaking. I'd highly recommend this to anyone who may be looking for a positive sort of edge in life.

Review: The movie "Wall Street" made this combat manual very popular in on Wall Street, although it had been around for a few thousand years. Great sales and negotiating skills are explained and "The Art of War" is a "Must-Read" for the serious contender. It contains ancient Chinese wisdom that is still applicable in our modern world. An amazing read!
