Summary: A "Must Read" for Anyone in Manufacturing
Review: This book uses a story format to illustrate the foundational principles of production that revolutionized my understanding. Many of my colleagues in the manufacturing sector do not understand what this book so clearly describes. If they did read "The Goal", they would change their definition of throughput, inventory, and expenses, and significantly improve the bottom lines at their production plants.

Summary: Exceptional, a Bible For Anyone in Business
Review: What an easy read. "The Goal" should be assigned reading for any operations class. I was assigned to read it in college and now that I'm working for a large corporation, it amazes me how many times a week this book comes up in conversation. After reading this story, you feel like you have an intense understanding of the inner-workings of manufacturing, even if you've never set foot in a plant. I was very impressed with the content of the book and even more amazed by how well the author conveyed his opinions and strategies. Absolutly a fabulous novel.

Summary: Introduction to a bottleneck
Review: Thanks to this book I was won for production logistics. I do not think of any better recommandation. As a student I was focuesd on transport, but this book explained the problems of production logistics in such a clear and logic way, I never looked at any lorry anymore as a transportation purpose, but as an item produced once, in a plant with bottlenecks and cost calculations. Although the concepts were brand new to me and hard to see in the context of production. Nevertheless it showed me the possibilities of bottleneck analysis. Unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to test this knowledge in practice, but it provides me with enough material to discuss the possibilities of Theory of Constraints.

Review: I was required to read this book for an operations class that I am taking. I couldn't put it down. It's a very quick read. Goldratt does an excellent job of using understandable analogies to illustrate concepts. My only disappointment was how it really lost momentum towards the end. Still, it is DEFINITELY a must read for anyone interested in business and operations.

Summary: WOW! A business book actually kept my attention!
Review: This is the first time that I have read a business book in one sitting. I could not put it down. Others may say that Goldratt is writing on a 5th grade level, but I found it to be a breath of fresh air. Finally, someone has found a way to say something intelligent without reading like a textbook.

Summary: New Way of Thinking/Analysis--Leads to Breakthrough Aha's
Review: I've read every book Eli Goldratt has written and am waiting for his newest. This is not a boring business processes book--it is one you will learn from and it is written in a way you will remember it like a good movie. Believe it or not, there are times when you must create a constraint in order to make your business more profitable--even if that means slowing down productivity in some areas while focusing on others. This guy is nuts you say--but this book will make you believe it. I was skeptical at first--but one year later I was speaking at a national convention with six other speakers presenting how we used the knowledge to turn the Titanic. Continuing to use this knowledge lead to corporate awards, to include a close finish for the Vice President Al Gore Award, for making awesome changes and delivering results no one else in the 85 unit company could do--the company CEO said "we were the model". I attribute a majority of the success to "The Goal" and the rest of the credit goes to my supervisors who also read "The Goal". It will change the way you think.

Review: Though this book is mainly in the area of manufacturing business, the theory developed at the end can be applied many other business with some abstractions and interpretations.Once you start reading this, you won't put it down. I did not.

Summary: one long story
Review: I had to read this book for a class a while back and it is one long story. The story was great and was mainly about what the goal of business was and removing bottlenecks and stuff...but it was long! So if you like learning in a long round-about and storybook way, then this is for you. If you need to read this for school, get the audio tapes...trust me.

Review: A must read for all students of management. Though the book has now become a little irrelevant for most of the companies in the developed countries, companies in the developing parts of the world can still learn a lot about operations management and logistics.
