Summary: The BEST book on day to day finances I have ever read!
Review: This book can change your life if you will read it and follow Dave's advice (which should mirror that of your grandparents). I think it should be taught in school! GREAT!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: UN-common sense
Review: Say what you want, this book is a life changer. My wife and I have had the same exact income (thanks to a raise freeze at my work) for nearly 2 years straight. Year one was a break even year, and then we read Financial Peace. Year two still has two months left, and yet we've already paid down more than $5,000 worth of debt by following these stupidly easy steps he outlines. Common sense is ignored too much because "It can't be that easy". It wasn't easy at first, but each new 'paid in full' statement made us that much more fanatical.

Read this, follow the steps, and watch your life change. We'll be debt free except the house after 13 total months of following this program ($14,000 in debt). Think about it, no increase in income, but about an $1100 monthly increase in disposable income. You don't need a raise or 2nd job, you need to manage your money with wisdom (aka common sense).

Summary: A Deep Sigh of Relief
Review: Dave Ramsey offers a no-nonsense, common-sense approach to correcting the financial woes of the masses. It is important to note, however, that many of his suggestions are for those who are not in an irreversible situation which is screaming for bankruptcy, foreclosure or other dire means of breaking free from financial bondage.

I would recommend that the last chapter be read first for those who are in need of instant solutions to daily money control issues. His envelope system seems very elementary, but that is the beginning many readers must embrace.

Overall, the book is an excellent pain reliever for those who are suffering with financial crisis.

Summary: Not that great
Review: O.K., I'll be the dissenting opinion here. I thought the first half of this book was pretty good. I like Mr. Ramsey's plan for getting out of debt - it's better than others I have heard. But the second half of the book was a let-down for me. I was looking for more specific details on saving money to put towards our debts, and this book doesn't have that. I honestly don't need Mr. Ramsey's very generalized information on mutual funds - there are plenty of financial magazines out there that address that issue with more current information. I really did not feel like I got my money worth's with this book.

Summary: I'm Floored!!! Excellent Book!!!
Review: Normally I do not like reading. This book was delivered to me yesterday and I finished it up 5 minutes ago. I am floored by the quality of this book! It is ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING and very well written. I recently started listening to Dave Ramsey on his radio show and this book fills in a lot of blanks for me. It not only contains personal and financial advice, but presents you with an easy-to-understand roadmap to financial peace. This book has the power to change your life if you open your mind and heart to the truths it contains. Thanks Dave!!!

Summary: A Must Read!
Review: This book absolutely changed my life. In the 3 years since I first read it my finances have done a complete 180 degree turnaround. I have since read more than 75 books on finances but this is still the best. It is entertaining and helpful but yet very easy to follow. I still refer to it on a regular basis and I honestly believe that it should be required reading for every human being.

Summary: Simple, Yet Not Simplistic
Review: Dave Ramsey's groundbreaking financial primer hits hard at the basics of personal finance with an intolerant attitude toward debt. As the magna carta of Ramsey's spiritual ministry and radio crusade, Financial Peace utilizes old-style repetition to educate in a common sense approach to money and life by getting the most out of each without the burden and slavery of financial bondage.

Many credit-card carrying folks will find Dave Ramsey's brand of consumerism a bit on the tart side. After all, who looks forward to living a life of deferred pleasures when plastic rules? Yet Ramsey makes solid sense on a visceral level. And that's where he shines, more so than with logic or conventional financial planning notions.

If you only have 30 minutes to read this book, devour the five pages of Chapter 18: Baby Steps, then read them again. These seven milestones are the crux of Financial Peace. All the rest of the book amplifies and supports these articles of faith.

I give Financial Peace five stars not for its writing style, but for the information it contains. It's vital. Read it, live it, become it and reap the benefits of a life without financial stress.

Summary: financial life-changer
Review: Although many readers cannot hear Ramsey's entertaining radio program, this book gives readers an alternative way to follow his radical advice for financial stability and strength. His methods are simple, non-gimmicky and a must for anyone surviving in an era of economic instability. Head for the shelter of Dave Ramsey's common sense advice and find financial peace.

Summary: Help for millions of people!!!
Review: Having recently lived in Tennessee, I have had the opportunity to experience his radio talk show. His common sense approach to one of the biggest problems in the US, DEBT, is both compassionate and straight-forward. I have found the book to be a direct extension of what I heard on the radio for a time.

Is this book simple---YES, financial peace is a simple process. Unfortunately, we live in a country that tries to complicate it. What Dave tries to explain is that if you learn to spend less than you make, you will have financial peace.

Is this hard---Yes, old habits die hard, especially bad ones. The principles in this book WORK!!! But they require a level of self-discipline that few want to attain. Financial peace may mean giving up your new car for an old jalopy in order to reduce a $300/month car payment or moving to a smaller house to reduce cost of living.

What I find most important about this book is that Dave Ramsey focuses on the family aspect of debt and how it can and does tear families apart. He also shares his own experiences with bankruptcy and the personal humiliation associated with it. He has been there people---and he has survived!

If you are up to your eyeballs in debt as most Americans are, this book provides a solid, stable, no-nonsense starting point to learn the simple (yet elusive) principles to help you on your way. It does not take you into complicated business practices nor does it bore you with Wall Street jargon and talk of IPO's, mergers, takeovers... It is in no way intended for those content in their current state, but it is a must-read for the average-joe in mainstream America who dreams of reaching his full potential and a comfortable retirement.

BE DEBT FREE AND SHARE THE WEALTH!!!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Simple, Hopeful, Effective
Review: The information in this book is pretty simple, but it is dead-on. Ramsey talks to his readers as if he were a parent or older relative, speaking from experience, caring about whether or not they are able to solve the problems they've created. I could have done without the little blurbs from his wife -- although the idea of her support has merit, she really didn't add any new information. This is a "cheerleader" book, telling you a lot of things you already know, but in such a way that you might actually act on them now.
