Summary: Where Our Legal System Came From
Review: Alan Dershowitz presents the origins of our legal system by comparing justice as experienced in the Book of Genesis with that our developing legal system. Regardless of what one's religious beliefs are, this book shows that Biblical study is relevant to all who want to truly understand the culture of our thinking especially when it comes to our concept of justice. This is an in-depth analysis of the topic which is clearly written and well documented. It is full of specific examples and good legal interpretation. Dershowitz is good at that!

Summary: Not for the faint of heart
Review: This is a well executed audio book a pleasure to listen to.

The author's view of God as a being who is learning how to deal with his creation and growing through trial and error (and thus establishing the process of common law) takes a little getting used to. However, the arguement is solid and thought provoking.

If you are coming at the book from a more fundamentalist viewpoint you are going to have to think about what the author is getting rather than dismiss it out of hand.

The book also provides a glimpse into the Jewish world view through the minor exploration of Jewish writings like the talmud and ancient Jewish thinkers.

It sounds dry and dusty by the author makes it interesting.
