Rating: Summary: great, but not practical Review: It's a great book but most of the the dog house plans are not practical,I was looking for something like a presidential white house dog house or something like that. Good book though!

Rating: Summary: The Best Book I've Bought In A Long, Long, Long, Long... Review: long, long, long, etc., time. Everyone should own it, or at least look through it a few times. And if I could give it more than 5 stars, I'd do it in a second. These are the wildest, craziest, coolest, most amazing, most wonderful doghouses in the world. I've had some doghouse-building experience myself. It was a big one, for a bloodhound, and it had a window, a flap door, it was raised and insulated, and there was a tray for food and water bowls attached to the side. Except for the roof, it could've used paint, and it was nowhere near the kinds of things you'll see in Barkitecture, but it was better and more pampering than your average doghouse. As the book says, "We project on our pets the same desires that we, ourselves, subscribe to-one of them being the desire to live in a really cool house." How true! And what really, really cool houses are in this book! My favorites would have to be: Red Rover (page 34, the one with the pool), Villa Dog (page 37, the geometric one), Foreign Correspondent (page 53, the traveling one), !!!*SIT*!!! (page 61, the bone one), Road to Zanzibar (page 66, the Arabian one with deck), Fido's Amazing Technicolor Dreamhouse (page 68, the wacky one with the hysterical name), Chuck & Lily's Campaign Tent (page 88, the one with bedrooms), and A Doghouse for Hobie and Ryely (page 90, the summery one with the flamingoes.) And there are tons more I admire and guarantee you will, too. Or, at the very least, you'll think they're interesting, if you don't want to rush out and buy or make one for your own dog.
Rating: Summary: Great Ideas and Photos Review: This book contains great ideas for doghouses. They are unique and truly amazing. The photos provide great inspiration. However, the book does not contain any actual plans to build a doghouse.

Rating: Summary: Awesome homes for dogs. Review: This book isn't a how-to; some of these designs probably wouldn't be too practical for the average dog person to build. What it is is a fascinating and fun look at the inspired creations of some of the world's architects with the purpose of providing shelters for dogs, and even a few historical facts, figures, and photos. A terrific coffee table book, Barkitecture is valuable as something to peruse with a friend at leisure and determine which styles you like and dislike. There is a wealth of doghouses found in these pages, proving the author's committment to scouring the globe for all the most brilliant and/or puzzling ones. The photographs are excellent; some of these canine casas have exquisite detail. A couple of them look genuinely uncomfortable, I must admit, and others just make you wonder why anyone would ever even dream up such an odd mansion (or monstrosity). Others are just fun to look at. The Muttropolitan Museum features six paintings of famous dog composers and opera stars, all with clever names; my favorite is the one on the upper right-hand side, though it's difficult to make out some of the names they were given. Some are funky and colorful. Some are luxorious. Some defy description, and some are just remarkable; the bone-covered !!!*SIT*!!! has photos of dogs on the walls and is painted like a real house. Foreign Correspondent is notably decorated in curtains and pillows. Some houses are culturally inspired, and Red Rover even has a pool attached. How can one beat that? Truly this is a book worth flipping through at least once. You might even get a few ideas for your own dog.
