Summary: BEAUTIFUL TERRACING LIKE MACHU PICCHU
Review: If you have ever seen pictures of the ancient terraced city in Peru. You will really appreciate this book "Inspirational Terracing." It covers terracing around a house from small designs to big creations. Terracing has been around a long time, and this book takes it to depths that no other book has ever touched on. Terracing isn't only beautiful, but it is extremely effective and conserves water. This is a must have for your home collection. What is so amazing about this book is you can own it and have the author sign it after he builds the most beautiful landscapes for your yard. He tells me that Inspirational Terracing represents 1/7th of his projects, not including all of the natural stone, stairways and waterfalls he has done. He has built landscapes in over 40 cities from the deep south, to the Ohio valley, to the northern boarder, and now he is in sunny southern California to share his talent with us. How blessed we are. You can visit his web site that is on the back of his book, after you purchase it.

Summary: Great guide to landscaping with stone walls
Review: Many colorful pictures. Real life examples. Simple writing. This book provides great ideas for how to create works of art in you yard -- using stones. Everything from small planters to terraced cathedral like wall structures. The book shows you example after example.

Summary: I loved this book, It is so cool
Review: My name is Josiah and i love art. this book is a work of art at peoples homes and someday i want to make peoples yards look really nice like that what Paul nordmark shows in his book.It is easy to read too.

Summary: Terracing using bricks.
Review: Nordmark only uses pre-cast stones (big pastel colored brick like things) to build terraces. No other materials are used. No details about drainage. You may want to look at his work before you buy...

Summary: What a disappointment
Review: The book should have been titled "Satisfactory Terracing With Cement Blocks From Home Depot." Most of the information is available where the materials are purchased. The photographs are quite similar to one another. I feel duped.

Summary: Great for Ideas or the Do-It-Yourselfer
Review: The book sits on my coffee table, because it's filled with photographs of creative wall weave terrace designs.

My wife and I decided we couldn't yet afford the [$] to have Paul come out and do our embankments, so for now we're starting small, replacing an ugly shed that was against the house with a beautiful terrace that will be filled with flowers next year.

The book has clear, simple language that makes it easy for a guy to pick the design and sketch it out, pick the stones, and in a few weeks of weekend work have something all my neighbors envy!

The methods described appear to offer a lot more wall security than merely digging deep down into the ground. And now I know that when I'm ready for more serious work I'll have the author come out himself to implement the design!

The book needs fewer grainy photos. Many of the shots shown looked like they could have been on the cover of Home and Garden, but blurry focus or grainy film made them less attractive. I guess they're good enough for what's intended: to portray the "before" photo of what a house looked like, and the "after" filled with flowers and elaborate terraced structures.

Summary: Simply uninspirational
Review: The whole book contains only excessive use of precasted retaining wall blocks, tons and tons of them running everywhere and nothing else. Inside you'll find lots of pictures which are really just variations similar to the cover page, lots of them are of blurry kind. I have used both dry laid stone and precasted concrete and both can make beautiful design. Problem of his design is the excessiveness. It is like having Home Depot do you whole house. This book is truly embarrassing.

For something actually inspiring, look for 'Hillside Landscaping' by Susan Lang.

Summary: INCREDIBLE, HELPFUL AND FULL OF ARTISTIC BEAUTY
Review: This book is amazing. Not only is is extreemly helpful, but Paul's way of explaining how to build beautiful terraces, waterfalls, and stairways is so simple. Even I can do it. His afordable method puts other methods of digging and using rebarb to shame. Don't be taken by contractors who just want your money for the extra labor. Try this yourself. The Author was nice enough to answer questions we had and took the time to give us tips above and beyond via e-mail. Thanks for the GREAT book and beautiful yard we can enjoy!!!!! ...

Summary: WHAT A BEAUTIFUL BOOK
Review: THIS BOOK IS BREATHTAKING. IT HAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PICTURES OF LANDSCAPING I HAVE EVER SEEN. THE AUTHOR IS SO HELPFUL AND EXPLAINS HIS METHOD SO WELL. I REALLY ENJOY LOOKING AT THE PICTURES AND READING THE INTERESTING TEXT OF THIS BOOK. IT IS A MUST BUY AND WILL GIVE PLEASURE TO THE READER OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

Summary: Stop! Save your money!
Review: This book was a big disappointment, especially for the price tag. The photo quality was poor and the designs not at all inspiring. This is the first book we have ever returned. Don't waste your money on this book. Try the Sunset Hillside Landscaping book if you're looking for creative terracing ideas (the pictures are small but the ideas are worthwhile).
