Summary: Great - if you aren't a Northerner
Review: I bought this book, full of excitement. When it arrived, I was sadly disappointed. The book, although bright and colourful, is of little use. Most of the projects in the book require items specific to regions of the culture outlined (and relatively unavailable elsewhere), and often are things such as "buy this item and hang it like this". Other projects were quite campy and almost gaudy (the wrestlers' come to mind). Granted, I am in Canada, so perhaps I can't totally appreciate all it has to offer, but having studied Latin culture and interior design, I didn't feel this book correctly conveyed projects that were accessible to the average person. Furthermore, the common thread through the book was "be creative and make up your own stuff", albeit decent advice, one usually purchases a book in order to replicate projects or ideas outline with in.

Summary: A Fabulous Funky Crafting Book
Review: I have been doing crafting and sewing for the past 8 years. I love picking up interesting craft books, and when I saw La Casa Loca on Kathy's website I ordered it immediately. Now it is the most colourful, fun, imaginative and inspiring craft book in my collection. Kathy uses such great descriptions, fun little stories, and wonderful directions that I read the whole thing right away and then went out to stock up on supplies. My first project: the "Crazy for Carmen Miranda Lamp."
This is a book that is full of fun projects challenging enough for serious crafters, yet easy enough for anyone to do. I've already recommended to all of my friends. Thanks for a great book!!

Review: I love this book! The pictures are beautiful and the ideas are inspiring. The projects in the book are fantastic. They also work as a springboard for coming up with great latin themed projects of your own

Summary: A really great inspiring beautiful book.
Review: I'm not exactly the arts and crafts type but I am a collector of Mexican art and imports. I bought this book last weekend at the Latino book festival because I fell in love with all the gorgeous photos. It is so refreshing to see a new style of tounge in cheek Mexican art that is made with a lot of TLC. I think I am actually going to give some of these ideas a try because they all seem easy enough (I guess I'll have to break down and buy a glue gun). I would have never of thought of cutting up a shirt and making a toss pillow out of it or using the novelas for gift cards. Fun, fun, fun. Fantastic job on this book! I can hardly wait to share it with my friends and co-workers.

Summary: I am so happy I finally bought this book!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: I've seen this book everywhere. My friends have it and rave about it, I leafed through it once at a party and was curious about the projects if they were hard or not. I'm not a big crafty type, in fact I suck at crafting. But I am trying to fix my home up in a unique way that includes my culture without having the same stuff that every one else has. Later on in two separate book stores at 2 different times I saw La Casa Loca on the shelf. Finally I took it as a sign. I'm soooo glad I did. The ideas are a lot easier than I thought and they came out just as cool as in the pictures. I made the Carmen Miranda lampshade but instead I used the Loteria pictures. I also made my own version of the glitter bottles. And I made the CD windchime too. I'm so proud of myself and am even thinking about getting Kathy's other book about shrine making. Buy this book if you want to make cool Latino stuff for your home, it's so different that anything I've seen on design books. Instead of just looking at pictures, La Casa Loca has the directions on how to make it. I hope Kathy does a follow up book on La Casa Loca!!

Summary: Absolutely FABULOUS!
Review: My cuz bought this book in Florida and loved it so she got me a copy too for my birthday. I love it so much too. Then I realized that the author is from my home town!!! Now I'm a fan of "crafty chica". This book is so much fun because it really puts a creative funky spin on Mexican/Latino art. Its all so different from anything I've seen. The ideas are so clever and unique. Everything is adorable but I will be making the Frida Kahlo shrine first. LOVE IT ALL!!!
