Rating: Summary: Very Good Review: A good book
Rating: Summary: A worthy book to have near your work book shelf Review: As a graphic designer, sometimes you need to look towards books or publications to get some inspiration. I have invested in many books for my company and for myself for "idea" inspirations but for those in a very tight budget, design books and magazines can be quite expensive and there are many out there that some may feel a bit confused. What I like about "The Big Book of Design Ideas" is that it takes several of those different books ...and condense it all into one book. So, in a way, for those who can't purchase many books, I highly recommend this one because it shows visuals for annual reports, books, catalogs, calendars, exhibits, self-promotions, logos, letterheads and a few dozen more. For those who do own many books, you can look at this book as something to glance in one setting from creative people throughout the world and instead of looking through many books, perhaps this book may have what you are looking for. A very good visual resource for designers looking for a design "ideas" book.

Rating: Summary: Excellent Layout Review: Beautifully done. Tons of categories. Extreme Picture book. Is nice enough to be a coffee table book even for those that aren't excited about graphics as much as I am. This is a great book to get some fresh ideas from. Nice reference book for any graphic artist. I loved this book so much that I bought it for one of my clients in the UK so they could have it, too. This would also make a great gift for any type of artist since it covers everything from corporate logos, letterheads, brochures, and even displays. It has much more than that because all the little color boxes on the front of the book are actual sections in this book. This is something that I wanted to have in hardcover.
Rating: Summary: Great book for letting your creative spirits flow Review: Every time I am browsing through this book, I feel inspired by the beautiful and imaginative designs that this books offers. And that is exactly the purpose of it: no explanations, just tons of great designs to get you in the creative mood. A must have for all graphic designers!
Rating: Summary: The Big Book of Design Ideas Review: I absolutely love this book. David Carter has definitely done his research, and in doing so found the most amazing work ever created by designers all over. I've gained endless inspiration from this book ... its the best!
Rating: Summary: Only graphics Review: I bought this book with a few other books because I wanted to learn designing. But this book only has pictures. It doesn't tell you why a design is good or bad. It doesn't teach you anything. But it has a lot of pictures and examples of graphics. So its a good buy for people who design for their living and are stuck or have a case of designers block. It can provide with good designing ideas. It can also help in colour combinations. But its not suited for beginners and don't buy this book if you want to learn about designing concepts.
Rating: Summary: A BOOK THAT INSPIRES Review: I bought this book, and since is quite expensi for me..., i though it was going to be a great book, but it isn't. It lacks information, all you have is pictures and a brief caption about the client. But i have to say, it has great pictures and it shows great examples of work. So if you re looking for a bit of inspiration, buy it; if you re looking to learn something, forget it, you wont with this book.
Rating: Summary: It¿s a splendid book for design graphics Review: I buy this book as a birthday present for my friend who studies in a uni. He said that this book is really fantastic. It's full of brilliant ideas. Once in a while when he's running out of idea to do his assignment, he will read this book - take the basic idea and developed furthermore from there. The minor problem in this book is because it was published in 2000. Three years is lots of time of changes in design. So he still have to make himself up to date with all the things that going up in design graphic world.
Rating: Summary: Very big but short of ideas Review: I ordered this book hoping it'll give me some fresh and new ideas for designing. I am very dissapointed, because what I've got is not more than 330 pages of outdated, temporary designs. Pretty much 330 of its 374 pages are filled with the same of what I call "typical american design from 90-95". So if you look at it that way, this book is way overpriced for 40 good pages.
