Rating: Summary: not enough ideas Review: I WAS HOPING TO ADD SOME NICE COLORS TO MY HOUSE BUT THIS BOOK IS MORE FOR A SINGLE PERSON LIVING IN AN APARTMENT. TOO MANY COLORS THROWN TOGETHER.
Rating: Summary: Finally!! A book for us "outside the box" decorators Review: I will preface this review by saying: If you want a "how to" decorating book, with step by step instructions and perfectly laid out rooms that you can easily duplicate by buying each piece in the book, this book is not for you. If you, like me, are looking for decorating books that are a little outside the box... a book that gives you new, fresh ideas with inspirations stemming from items you aesthetically love (the pearly pink of the inside of a conch shell found on vacation, the smooth sophisticated grey from a river stone) and build a room around it... you have found the book you have been searching for! Anyone artistic who loves great photography and modern decorating will love this book. What I loved most about Think Color was that the colors and color themes used in this book were not over the top. No bright orange walls with red furniture. The colors were tasteful, modern and very do-able for the average homeowner. Even if you are a renter and cannot alter your wall color, this book gives you PLENTY of ideas for using color in other ways (mainly through use of flowers indoors.) Particularly helpful is the way the book is organized... by color groupings -- so much easier on the eyes then those books with a different color scheme on each page, in no order whatsoever. I received this book about a week ago and have already gone through it several times, putting post it notes on pages that sparked ideas. This is a modern homeowners dream come true-a book without the stringent guidelines of a decorating book, but packed full of endless ideas for contemporary color and accessories.

Rating: Summary: Finally, Colorful Modern!! Review: I've been poring through tons of magazines and books, searching for examples of modern style with lots of bold color, and this book has it. It is at the top of my list of sources of inspiration for decorating my new home. I agree with another reviewer who said that it does not provide basics of color design, and yet another reviewer who claimed it did not have enough about the rooms themselves. The book does offer ideas for bringing color into your living space, through the furnishings, as well as when you entertain. If you dislike modern styles and bold colors, then don't get this book. It's not for you. If you are tired of looking at taupes, mochas, chocolates, beiges, creams, grays, "sand", etc., then this book should provide some great ideas for color combinations and ways to infuse your rooms with color.

Rating: Summary: extremely disappointing Review: The cover looked so good and fresh but the book inside does not show rooms. It's mostly close-up shots of flowers or other colorful items. If you are looking for a decorating book on color (a book that shows color used in ROOMS) DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK. A WASTE OF [money].

Rating: Summary: not enough ideas Review: The only other book I have looked at by Tricia Guild, I did not like. So imagine my surprise when I liked this one enough to buy it. If you are wanting to learn the basics of color, you are looking at the wrong book. However, if you want to be inspired and love color, this is the book for you. The photos are gorgeous. The author gives a personal touch to her decorating tips without being overbearing. I would give this book 5 stars, except it only shows examples of one style, funky modern. I define funky modern as having the simplicity of minimalism without its cold austerity and with the bold use of color and India-style fabric. Because I happen to like this style, I like this book. If you like country or traditional styles, you probably won't. Recommendation: If you love color, buy this book!

Rating: Summary: Not a decorating book Review: The title is all wrong for this book. It isn't a decorating book but an arty book about color, period. Don't look for gorgeous color-filled room in this book, because you won't find them. What you will see are big shots of closeups of flowers or fruit or other such things. Pretty but useless if you are into decorating.
