Summary: Excellent Resource
Review: This book is my favorite resource for, well, frame construction. I've used it for as a reference for doing detail drawings and as a reference for doing actual construction. I'm adding on to my house, doing most of the work myself. Whenever I hit a snag or need to do something I only vaguely know how to do (which is more often than I'd like), this is the first book I turn to. The drawings are of excellent quality, the text is extremely clear, and the layout like a fine set of blueprints. Its indexed well enough that you can find what you need quickly. The spiral binding is perfect for taking it to the job site and letting it stay open on the page you need.

I'd highly recommend this book to apprentice carpenters, general contractors, architectural students, architects, and do-it-yourselfers.

Thallon's Graphic Guide to Interior Details makes a nice compliment to this book, though I don't find it as necessary.

Summary: Excellent Reference for Pros and Do it yourselfers!
Review: This book is part of Taunton's "For Pros by Pros" Series. While I (As a building "Pro") would argue that some of the books in this series would not really be useful to the pros, this book certainly is not one of those. This book is a valuable reference to anyone in the building trades. It is a good addition to any professional builders' library. And for the do it yourselfer it is even more indispensable. If this book cannot help you figure out how to frame it yourself, then you probably shouldn't be trying to do it yourself and should hire a builder.

Summary: Outstanding and informative
Review: This book will become a staple in your library. It will help work through just about any detail. Don't waste your money on Kaffee Kang's version of this book unless your are a complete novice in the field.

Summary: Fantastic Reference
Review: This is a fantastic reference. It is loaded with great detail drawings for a ton of construction situations and finishes. I don't have time to write a big long review, but this is one of the best home construction reference books you'll find for the money.

Summary: Great Detail of Graphics For Do-It-Yourself
Review: This is one of the best books that I have found so far ! We are remodeling and renovating an old home built in the 1920's. The graphic layouts in this spiral bound book have been to a great advantage for the home do-it-yourselfer. Mainly for those who have some basic knowledge of construction and building.
