Summary: I never believed there was so much to know about printing!
Review: This is the third book I've purchased from this publisher, and all of them have been excellent. I hadn't been looking for a book on printing, but when I picked this one up in the book store I was amazed to find there was so much I didn't know. All the information is useful, and I am very glad I stumbled across this book.

Summary: Mastering Digital Printing: Subject Mastered !
Review: This new book represents a uniquely detailed description and explanation of digital printing technology as it pertains to the world of fine art and what might be termed art photography. For artists working with digital technology as their chosen medium, this work provides more than sufficient explanation to enable the artist to intelligently work through all the issues involved with digital printmaking and digital output technology. Whether the artist is doing (or wants to do) his own prints, or is looking at a commercial digital printmaker, this work provides the understanding to do either or both with a rational, thought-through approach.
And furthermore, this book offers a wealth of detail and information for others, be they collectors of fine art, commercial printmakers, or others in the fine art community, most specifically including museum and gallery personnel. And to photographers of all description, it provides a fine understanding of the new digital printing processes, and their uses in the various levels and types of photography. All around, a hugely useful book.

Summary: A Comprehensive Treatment
Review: What an amazing, monumental work. I was unprepared for the scale and depth of this thing. I hope the publisher is pushing this to high school and college campuses as a textbook! MASTERING DIGITAL PRINTING is an achievement that may have to be adapted to new technologies as they emerge, but that will live and thrive on its merits for many, many years to come. It will, I predict, become a standard in the industry, and its educationa/institutional value must not be ignored.

Summary: Not Good Enought
Review: When I first started to read this book I was really impressed. Then I kept trying to find specific information that I could use. There is very little. A good book for history and hype, but there are better books for useful knowledge. I would suggest Kieran's Photoshop Color Correction.

Summary: About time
Review: Where has this book been? It's about time someone explained it all. What a great book!

Summary: Not what you'd expect
Review: With a title including the word "mastering" I expected a little more than a basic overview of the subject. The first part of the book is a history lesson talking about Graham Nash being the first one to do high-end digital printing for the art world. It includes numerous plugs for Nash's Nash Editions printing company as well as other related companies. The second park talks about the various equipment available for digital printing, both high end, and at home. Again, a great history lesson (most equipment is outdated already) but you can learn more by window-shopping at a local electronics store. With a title like Mastering Digital Printing, I expected more info on color calibration, setting up images for output, etc., and less of a history lesson. If they re-titled the book to actually reflect the contents, and cut the price in half, this would be a great book at an acceptable price.
