Summary: Very helpful in passing the PMP Exam
Review: I found this book to be filled with helpful hints, relevant examples and lots of practice problems. It helped concentrated my studies on the most appropriate exam areas.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Expensive, poorly designed but GREAT!
Review: I just passed the exam (161 out 200). The book helped me. I read it 3 times in the last month before the exam. It is a great review tool, however I would not recommend it to beginners. Take PM courses, read and study PMBOK, read Kirzner (I never did... I can't read books over 1 inch thick!) and review all material using PMP Exam Prep. Rita - if you read this - lower the price, improve the layout (how about using both sides of the page....), remove your copyright from a footer on every page (it is so annoying) and big THANK YOU for helping me with the exam.

Summary: PMP Exam Prep Material
Review: Although I have not taken the PMP exam yet, I do intend to take the exam soon. I have found this book very helpful as Mulcahy presents PMP-isms and other information to help you prepare to sit for the exam. Although the cost is high, this is a good book to purchase to help you study for the PMP exam.

Summary: Good Buy
Review: I just took the test and passed. This book is a good buy, but get a couple of others with sample test. The more test practice, the better.

Summary: Highly overrated
Review: This book does present some material well. But it is more of an advertising teaser so you'll buy the whole kaboodle paying several hundred dollars. Or worse you'll be motivated to take her course paying thousands of dollars.
PMP exam prep has definitely is a growing industry. The certification is by itself overly hyped up. Sometimes it all seems like a scam. One can pass PMP by just reading a bunch of prep books. Just because someone is PMP doesn't mean a squat.

Summary: Good book but not complete!
Review: A good project manager will take a balanced view of IT, learn the business and gain mastery of software development disciplines. Would recommend that project managers also consider reading books on enterprise architecture.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: This book was my key to passing the exam
Review: I used the PMBOK, this book (the "Rita Book"), PMP for Dummies, and some ESI materials. In the end, I would say that it is this book + the PMBOK that helped me pass the exam the most. The Dummies book and the ESI materials were nice to present a couple of different viewpoints, but Rita's book is the best overview of the exam and provides the best description of what to expect in the exam room itself.

I didn't take a prep class. I didn't buy the $250 set of Rita CD's. I read the PMBOK a couple times, read the Rita book twice cover to cover, took a couple of online exams (free ones), went back and reread my weak areas, and went and scored 91% on the test. Don't make a mountain out of a molehill and spend thousands on this exam. Get this book and one or two other materials (just to keep things fresh) and you will be fine.
