Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: An important tool for preparing PMP exam Review: I didn't attend any formal training class and I have passed PMP exam recently with the help of this book (plus the use of 3 more other reference books including PMBOK).I have read both 3th edition and 4th edition (the latest one!). 3rd edition one is a very good exam preparation tool with lots of comprehensive training exercise and guideline for readers. But 4th edition provides much more. Many new exercises and questions are provided to accelerate your learning process. In addition, a new topic on "Professional Responsibility" (which doesn't appear in PMBOK) is added. I personally found PMP exam is very tricky and there are questions even experienced Project Managers may have difficulties to answer. It is very important to know more about the exam and to have adequate practice beforehand. This book is a very useful reference for anyone preparing PMP exam.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Needed resources - Filled with errors Review: This examp prep is key to passing the PMP exam. It covers topics that are tested but not in PMBOK. But, the text and sample questions CD are filled with errors. Combine these errors with PMI's goofy subjective questions for some fun stress. Good luck passing the PMP!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The best book available on PMP Exam Review: This is no doubt the best book available on the PMP Exam. Rita covers each and every area required for the exam. I studied the PMBOK religiously (run through at least 10 times with concentration). Then read PMP Exam prep and sincerely do each of the excercises mentioned by her. Her coverage of Earned Value, and Network diagrams are very good. She covers the whole topics from the exam point of view. Keep doing the sample tests and noting your scores. Once you reach at least 80% on her sample tests then go ahead and plan your dates for the exam. I also attended the local chapter PMP Exam prep training, which also helped a lot. Thus using the PMBOK, PMP Exam prep and training I was able to successfully clear the exam with a very good score.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Must Have Review: I took my PMP exam and cleared it with fair margin.Rita's book provided useful information which helped me in answering several questions in the real exam. I think besides PMBOK you need to use this book as reference if you wish to improve your chances of success.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Do Yourself A Favor and Get This Book! Review: If you are going to take the PMP exam, forget the PMBOK. Everything you need to know is in Rita's book, and it's much easier to study. She skips all the extraneous stuff and tells you what you need to know to pass the exam. Just studying may not be enough for some people, especially if test taking is not your thing. I also purchased Rita's CD full of exam questions. It's a little pricey, but well worth it. The questions on the were an accurate representation of those on the exam. I ended up easily passing with a 178, and would not have scored as high if I didn't have the exam CD.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: WHLACA Review: From my experience, knowing the PMBOK "inside-out" was essential to passing the PMP certification exam, but the PMBOK alone probably would not have been sufficient. I found Rita Mulcahy's PMP Exam Prep book to be very helpful, and I recommend it. (If it wasn't for the fact that there were several obvious but not critical typos throughout the book, it would receive the rating of "five stars" instead of the four given here.) However, I suggest expanding your study beyond both of those reference materials in order to best broaden your knowledge of the subject matter and prepare for the exam.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: The surest and fastest way to get there. Review: Rita knows PMP better than anybody else. There is no tangling of ideas between jargons. Text is simple/lucid and drives home the point. With just barely 28 hours of effort I could clear the exam after reading her materials. I have known people who have studied other materials for more than 6 months and have not felt confident. If there is one book I will advise anybody to buy, it is this one.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: PMP exam prep....Got to have it!!! Review: If you are determined to obtain your PMP, you would do yourself a favor by getting this book. I got the PMBOK thinking I would learn all I needed from it HAH!. Rita's book puts the entire process into focus and tells you what to memorize and what not to concern yourself with. I can not say enough good things about her efforts in making an impossible test, passable.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: PMP Exam Prep - Seminal guide to exam success Review: I recently passed my PMP exam with this book and related materials as the ONLY exam preparation tools I used. My 20+ years of PM experience would not have been sufficient to score nearly as well because of the fairly narrow interpretations of many terms and concepts that are unique to the PMI context. I read a variety of texts and web-based resources during my eight months of preparation and study, but relied almost exclusively on Rita's Mulcahy's PMP Exam Prep tools to provide "ground truth" when I encountered conflicting methods or subtle differences in methodology promoted by individual experts in the field. Of greatest value were tips on the exam itself, suggestions for resolving what appear at first glance to be multiple correct answers, and the emphasis on essential relationships and formulas. The practice exams were worth every penny of the cost of your entire package. By taking them repeatedly for several weeks, I developed a rhythm of responding to easier questions and deferring successively more difficult questions in a way that carried over to the actual exam and made that 4 hours seem comfortably familiar. Identifying the subject matter of more commonly missed questions also helped focus my final study sessions on specific topics or vernacular that could have been problematic. This is a well-designed package of materials that Rita supports quite well and obviously works hard to keep current. I applaud Rita's contribution to the PM profession.

Review: On May 3rd, I took and passed the new PMP exam with room to spare, and I give a lot of the credit to this book. Due to the excellent coverage of the material, there were no questions or topics that took me by surprise. If you're preparing for the PMP exam, this text is a must! Good luck on the exam!
