Summary: Best book to prepare you for the exam
Review: I found this book as the best resource to pass the exam. The advantage this book has over Kim Heldman's book, which I also read, is the focus this book has towards the exam. It highlights all what you need to memorize, concepts that you should know, etc. The sample questions aren't all that great. From a strategy perspective, I would recommend that you first read Kim Heldman's book to get a thorough understanding of Project Management and then use this book to prepare for the exam. Best of Luck. BTW: Don't forgot to read and reread the PMBOK.

Summary: Truly an "Exam Prep" book
Review: This book is a must for those preparing for the PMP exam. I bought this book after researching (including book reviews like this one) a lot of books. I think this one stood out for me to buy. I am really pleased with the content and alignment of this book.

I also purchased the PMP FASTRACK simulation software from RMC. That software really iced the cake! My confidence level went up 147.5% (Ok, I was checking if you are really reading this!). My confidence level went up significantly and I was completely prepared. I passed the PMP with a whopping 80%. I don't think I could have passed without the simulation software.

Good Luck to all you "Soon to be PMPs".

Summary: This book was my key to passing the exam
Review: I used the PMBOK, this book (the "Rita Book"), PMP for Dummies, and some ESI materials. In the end, I would say that it is this book + the PMBOK that helped me pass the exam the most. The Dummies book and the ESI materials were nice to present a couple of different viewpoints, but Rita's book is the best overview of the exam and provides the best description of what to expect in the exam room itself.

I didn't take a prep class. I didn't buy the $250 set of Rita CD's. I read the PMBOK a couple times, read the Rita book twice cover to cover, took a couple of online exams (free ones), went back and reread my weak areas, and went and scored 91% on the test. Don't make a mountain out of a molehill and spend thousands on this exam. Get this book and one or two other materials (just to keep things fresh) and you will be fine.

Summary: I passed- so its a great book
Review: I was very frightened of taking the exam as I did not take any of the 1000+ dollar courses. Instead I ordered this book, got the flash cards and studied for about a month every day. I found this book to be extremely helpful and I passed the first time!

Summary: Cost and Time are ***best*** explained
Review: The Best book you could possibly get for PMP Exam. Cost and Time are very well explained. Not to mention the others are as well. Rita knows what to learn and what not. You would be better of to learn (Not just read) this book and buy and use her 'FastTracks CDs' as well together.

I passed PMP with very good scores.

Summary: The perfect companion to the PMBOK
Review: I got this book from the RMC PMP Exam Prep course. It has tons of extra information not included in PMBOK. In addition, it tells you EXACTLY what you need to memorize for the exam, and has many exercises to really test your knowledge. Purchase this book along with her book "Hot Topics" and her CD exam simulation software, and you can REALLY cut your study time to 40-50 hours.
Don't waste your time with any other materials. You don't need a typical study prep book that is a restatement of the PMBOK.

Summary: Lifesaver
Review: I put off studying for my test but with the help of this book I can say that I just passed my PMP. Ms. Mulcahy provides many useful pointers in regard to material on the test and the exam situation itself. She helps make sense of the PMBOK.
I recommend this book and will be sharing it with my friends who are planning on taking the test.

Summary: Book is horrible
Review: This book is a rehash of the previous version. It is full of quick tips without much substance. There are many books out there now that are much better. It seems that Rita relies on her inside information with PMI as a selling tool. Will not help you to be a project manager and is more like a boot camp full of things like study this cause it is on the test. lacks comprehension for understanding PMP principles. As a PMP I find these quick books not worthwhille

Summary: The best prep for the PMP test
Review: I just took the PMP test and passed with a 171. I owe it all to the material that Rita and Co have created. There isn't anything out there that can help prepare you for this exam more than this book, the test simulation questions, and the flash cards. While taking the exam, I found that a number of the questions were actually easier than what is in Rita's material. If you want to pass the test, definitely buy this material.

Summary: PMP Exam Prep
Review: I used this book along with the PMBOK as my primary study references. I found the following to be true concerning this text:

1) Great Layout: Each section is layed out according to the PMBOK's organization. This greatly assists the reader when referring from area to area.

2) Solid Information: Rita provides information you need to know to be a solid Project Manager. In addition, she provides enough information to the level of granularity needed to pass the test. A key diagram I felt very helpful is her overview of the steps (in order) needed to go through the Project Lifecycle from Initiating to Closing. And at times, she lets you smile as you read :-).

3) Practice Tests: I concur with a previous reader. The questions are more difficult in Rita's books than they are on the actual test. However, Rita's questions make you think through the process and promote a deeper level of understanding that is needed to answer the "simpler" questions on the PMP test.

The only drawback of Rita's books are the lack of additional questions. A CD is provided that is sold seperately (Fast Track). I would have preferred a few more questions that the 24 demo questions for the price of the book.

The bottom line--I passed the test. My recommendation. Read the PMBOK and understand inputs, tools, outputs, and flow. Buy Rita's book to greatly enhance understanding. Then buy another book with additional practice questions as well.
