Summary: I'm not sure what to think.
Review: The subtitle of this book is "Scholarship, Policy, and Practice" and this feels like something that is part-social work, part-therapy, and part-public policy. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if that is a good or bad thing. Are too many cooks spoiling the soup? Perhaps this book is best for directors of Latino non-profits or governmental agencies in Latino communities. I particularly like the section of the book that focuses on specific populations; namely Latino fathers, and Central American refugee families. Too many books on Latinos stress the same old stuff (Latinos are diverse; their numbers are increasing; language and immigration will be an issue unlike with most blacks or whites, etc.). So this book was definitely trying to do something special. I just don't know if they effectively acheived their goal(s).
