Summary: DON'T SEE A CHIROPRACTOR FOR MIGRAINES!!!
Review: I am a 41 year old mother of two in perfect health - except for the fact that I had a stroke two weeks ago following a chiropratic manipulation to the neck for a migraine. This author calls such strokes "anecdotal" and claims they're less likely to happen due to the chiropractor than "a trip to the beauty parlor." Well, I haven't been to the beauty parlor in three months. My neurologist, who is considered the best in my state, is convinced that my stroke (caused by a dissection of the vertebral artery) was caused by chiropractic manipulation. I find the statement supporting chiropractic care for migraines in this book to be incredibly careless. PLEASE, before you have your neck adjusted by a chiropractor, do some research. Neurologists in general are very against chiropractic neck manipulation because they see too many cases like mine. As they have much more education than the chiropractors who argue against this claim, I'll believe them. Don't risk your life to make a migraine feel better. There are better ways.

Review: This book is filled with every option available for Migraine pain relief. It discusses all of the pharmacology remedies as well as holistic and non-traditional methods of pain relief, which include diet, exercise, bio-feedback, food triggers, stress and chemical triggers as well as posture. It includes headache diaries and questionaires to help assist you with your communication with your doctors visits. It discusses anti-inflamitory, anti-seizure, nsaid, anti-depression, anti-anxiety treatments that some doctors use to in the prevention of Migraine pain for chronic pain sufferors. I highly recommend this book as it sheds light on understanding the treatments and methods that doctors are using and why some remedies work for some and not others. This book also discusses the various types of testing and which ones are best, not only imaging but also including blood tests. Take care. Julie

Summary: Basic Information
Review: While very readable and informative, this book provides information that I suspect most long-suffering migraineurs already have. If you or your child have just been diagnosed with migraine, and you want a clearly presented, very general overview of the condition and its current treatments, this is the book for you.
