Rating: Summary: 'just-in-time' Review: ...excellent,well organized how-to-book on a difficult task.
We trained our third child after very trying experiences with our first two children.Got the job done in two weeks as suggested by the author.
An easy, tight read which is loaded with practical tips, tricks, ordered methodology and a constant stream of loving stories which involve the whole family.
For example:grandma's 'poo-poo'dance following success;phone-calls from the bathroom;distraction with the offerring of tightly wrapped, difficult to open candies,...on-and-on,pages of sensible techniques for success with tear-out pages for quick reference.
No psycho-babble here,...only a clear recital on how to get the job done in a loving and caring style.
Well done, gratitude to an insightfull author.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your money or time Review: First of all, it would be helpful if somewhere in the product description it noted that this book is geared to stay-at-home moms. Giving up 2 full weeks to set up a "potty training ground" is something that I would love to do, but can't because I work full-time and my son is in daycare. I didn't agree with alot of what the author said, primarily because she sounds like a quack. One tip she gave was to force your child to pee at night after they are alseep before you (the parent) go to bed so that the child does not wake up wet. Even if the kid kicks and screams. I don't think so....
This book is more about training the parent to recognize when the child is about to pee or poop so they can rush the child to the potty, rather than training the child to recognize when they have to "go" and getting themselves to the potty. In fact, Ms. Penner claims that one of her children were potty-trained, although they were still having 1 or more accident per day for 8 straight weeks. Does that sound like a potty-trained child? Again, I don't think so....
Rating: Summary: This book is a must for all parents!! Review: Great guide to potty training. Through all my ten plus years working with children and parenting two of my own I have heard tons of advice. This book got right to the point and made me realize you may have to give up some things to potty train your child! The candy was a great idea. I am usually against food for rewarding, but her comment about forgetting the food pyramid for a few weeks hit me. Big deal, you are giving your child independence that he/she needs that will last a lifetime....a few weeks of candy will not hurt. Also, the advice about parents being ready is so true. Let the laundry and cleaning go it will still be there, but the potty training experience only happens once. I will use potty training as bonding time with the family. This book is such a great price and filled with useful information that is easy to implement. I highly recommend it to anyone!! Thanks so much for making me realize how much fun potty training should be.

Rating: Summary: Great Resource for New Parents Review: I was desperate when I finally found this book; I couldn't get my daughter to go; However, after reading this book I had new and improved tools to use. I really liked the useful charts at the end of the book. This book provides parents with a quick read and great new tools. I even thought it was neat that the book provided tips for parents with twins. If you are having trouble with potty training your child, you should read this book!
Rating: Summary: Not bad, needs a website Review: the Book was helpful, but i didn't agree with everything in it. I trained 4 kids of my own, so I can relate to the author. i was let down since there was no website associated with the book. I like the websites for additional conversation and debate.
