Rating: Summary: This book is changing my life. Review: Finally, I think someone has gotten through to me to get me to eat healthier. The motivation? Avoiding cancer and other diseases. Dr. Slaga breaks it down simply: some foods cause cancer, while others help prevent it. Which would you rather eat? He itemizes the different vitamins, minerals, supplements etc. that fight disease, and explains how they work within the body to do so. He provides a list of "super foods," the foods that are the absolute best for you, so you can concentrate on those if you'd like. And he provides a bunch of recipes incorporating his recommended foods so you can work them into your lifestyle. This is not a diet book! This is a book that can help you live a healthier and longer life, if you just listen to Dr. Slaga's message. I can't recommend this book highly enough. Since I read this book, I have been incorporating items like soy, flaxseed oil, fish oil, nuts and dried fruits, etc., into my diet, and I look forward to reaping the results.

Rating: Summary: I learned a lot Review: I read two or three health/nutrition books per week, and I usually don't learn anything new. Most books spend the first 20 to 50 pages criticizing the present state of nutrition, the extreme diets (lowfat/high carb vs low carb/high fat), and claiming that their book is different. I read so many books because most books are loaded with fluff.Enter 'The Detox Revolution'. I was blown away by page ten when I learned about the xenobiotic detoxification system and the role of D-glucarate. The book clearly spells out what you need to take to maximize your body's ability to ward off cancer and other chronic diseases. Be aware however, that this book's recomendations are heavilly supplement based. If you don't have the money or you don't believe in supplements, this might not be for you. But this is cutting edge stuff, not the old fashioned and often misunderstood naturopathic methods popularized at the turn of the 20th century. Anybody interested in preventing cancer should consider the investment in this book, and also a program of scientific supplementation based on it's recommendations.
