Summary: Finally, a clear understanding that makes sense
Review: ...Dr. George Weinberg reveals in this excellent tell-all book about the male psyche. The author leaves no stone unturned, pointing the way for every woman to help the man she wants to make that life commitment. According to Weinberg, men want to make the commitment even more than women do. He effectively proves his point through examples everyone can relate to easily. Setting up a few basic premises, such as the formidable "masculine pretense," the deeply embedded psychological culprit that invariably prevents men from giving up their perceived "freedom," Weinberg takes the reader from first date foibles through the minefield of bedroom behavior to pitfalls of the financial faux pas. It's a page turner for women who want to know not only what holds men back from commitment, but what parental, peer pressure and cultural influences mold men's behavior. Men who want to know why they act the way they do are likely to find Weinberg's book equally compelling. I recommend this book highly!

Summary: strong relationship guide
Review: After a quarter of a century working closely with men, Dr. George Weinberg concludes that the male of the species desires permanent commitment and a forever love equal to that, which women want too. The difference is men believe that to admit they want a permanent partner is not considered part of the cultural image and thus too feminine so most males hide their inner feelings as an alpha menace to their masculinity. Dr. Weinberg believes culture forces this role to include women placing the man of their dreams in a situation by comparing his strengths and weaknesses to his rivals.

WHY MEN WON'T COMMIT: GETTING WHAT YOU BOTH WANT WITHOUT PLAYING GAMES provides a straight forward guide for frustrated women to enable their mate to find his feelings ("gut reactions") by altering her behavior. Before feminists scream "no Jane" chauvinism and machos play Tarzan, the key in Dr. Weinberg's help guide is to accept that the male is the "weaker sex" so that the stronger female must take charge by being the relationship caretaker reaching through the stereotype stud to his inner being. This is an easy to follow guide that wastes little if any space assisting frustrated women with solid advice.

Summary: The Real Deal
Review: At last, a book about commitment that's smart, straight-forward and gets results--all without advocating game-playing and manipulation! I read the book in one sitting over the weekend, and was blown away by the accuracy of George Weinberg's analyses of men's "commitment issues," and by the incredibly useful advice to help women help men resolve the obstacles to commitment. A godsend!

Summary: Makes Sense
Review: This book makes sense. It tells you the 4 reasons a man will commit that women often aren't aware of. Also, it discusses how to argue, although the book, "The Seven Principles of Making Marriage Work: A Practical Guide from the Country's Foremost Relationship Expert" covers is best! However, this book is good at explaining why men don't/do commit, based off his research. Written for the woman's perspective. Much better than "The Rules"! Gave me confidence by realizing men also want commitment.

Summary: It's just as I thought..
Review: This book pretty much confirms what I have learned from getting back into the singles scene a few years ago: That men who are lonely and alone have pretty much themselves to blame, for being so vehemently clueless and never questioning anything about themselves. According to Weinberg, men want emotional intimacy but run away from it when they get it; this confirms my experiences that men only want what they can't have, and don't want it anymore once they get it. Weinberg also makes clear that men dump women for the stupidest reasons, reasons even they can't verbalize because it's nothing more than what Weinberg calls a "gut reaction". He delineates mens' four needs (what, besides beer and sex?) and gives women a lot of very sound real-world advice for dealing with it; however I still found the book very depressing, as it's unlikely to me any woman will ever get beyond mens' virtually emotionless lives since no woman is the "perfect, ready-made relationship" Weinberg claims men want. Sorry ladies, but if you've got flaws, *any* flaw, you're not going to be good enough. However, if you want to continue trying to find a man who can eventually be manipulated to commit (and that's what it comes down to, when women have to dance around mens' delicate little egos and constantly avoid all the land mines in their four needs), this is a great book to start. Just don't tell him you're dating other men; he wants to be "special" to you even though he'll run like hell the moment he realizes he is; so the best thing really is to date them a handful at a time and see who has the 'nads to last beyond the second date.

OTOH, if you're as jaded and cynical as I am about men, this is a GREAT book for learning the basics of emasculating men even further; I'm taking this new-found knowledge with me to the Dark Side,(...)

Summary: At last!
Review: Why Men Won't Commit is absolutely terrific. Information in this book is original, wise and smart. It gives you a real insight into how men tick and how to work around their idiosyncrasies to get a real relationship going. Move over Dr. Phil..
