Summary: The perfect tool for women to reach balanced health
Review: Do you go to your Doctor's office, attempting to convey your very uncomfortable symptoms of PMS, Postpartum Depression,or Menopause, only to get a routine answer of either; a.) It's all in your head, you should see a mental health provider, or b.)Go on the birth control pill, or c.)It's something all women go through, go home and deal with it! These are all responses I have gotten in the past. I would highly recommend to any woman of any age to purchase a copy of "Listening to Your Hormones". This book is filled with answers. It addresses every hormonal issue a woman faces throughout her life. With book in hand there is no problem that can't be dealt with, with your Physicians assistance.

Arm yourselves ladies! This is a must for everyone, spouses included!

Summary: Very Informative
Review: Gillian Ford has done her homework! The index of this book is worth the price alone. You can find what you are looking for in this book. She has listed the many references to medical literature in the back of the book which helps to back-up the information that she gives. She writes as if she is a detail-oriented, intelligent person. Other books that have been written on the subject of hormones for women, including those written by many M.D.'s, do not cover the topic as well as she has in this book. I'd recommend getting this one and getting Elizabeth Vliet's newest "Screaming..." book. But don't expect Dr. Vliet's book to have a very good index. You will have a lot more trouble finding what you are looking for in Dr. Vliet's book.

Summary: just average
Review: I am currently reading just about everything out there on hormone replacement therapy and although I happen to own this book-I do not plan to keep it. It skims the surface, discussing pros and cons ad nauseum, which may be ok for some people, but eventually you have to step up to the plate and make decisions. This book, along with the writing of Elizabeth Vliet may tell you yes you have a problem and even help reassure you that you are not going mad-but those are baby steps. For myself, I want a plan of attack. This is why I vastly prefer ob gyn Uzzi Reiss book on Natural Hormone Balance. Perhaps supplemented with Dr. John Lee and Jonathan Wright-at least the guys offer you specific suggestions as a starting point. I live in the midwest and one does not find doctors here who know much about nhrt-so that sort of concrete help is a great planning tool. I am not negative about this author-at least her work is organized so you can quickly get to the section you need-so it is good as far as it goes. Which is not far enough for someone working to reverse the damage a tubal ligation did 25 years ago. Please do not assume a woman author is naturally your best friend. Competence knows no gender.

Summary: A must read for all women
Review: This book helped me tremendously, especially the section regarding the thyroid link. For such a small gland, the thyroid affects so much and frequently gets overlooked by the medical profession. The author lists symptoms of thyroid disorder and even refers to the Dr's conflicting opinions on treatment for the disease. Women know how much hormones affect their body and this book covers it all. Every woman I know should have a copy because of all the hormonal changes that take place in a woman's lifetime.

Review: What great information this book gives. I was introduced to this book at Gillian Ford's Clinic in Roseville CA.The women that run the clinic are wonderful and and when you need more information you can refer to the book for the added help. If your headed towards Menopause, like I am, you can get some non-bias information in this book!
