Rating: Summary: Insightful accurate and fun Review: As a dad who works too much, Julia makes it easy to figure out what to do with my kids. Insightful accurate and fun, I open the book, pick a page and we go. A great resource
Rating: Summary: A Toddler's Tour of Seattle Review: I have three young kids under age 5 and this book has been a life saver for those days when I've just got to get out of the house and don't know where to go. The libraries and community centers are a welcome change to Chuck E.Cheese and I look forward to visiting the child friendly restaurants.
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly good!!! Review: I just found this book at a huge booksale in Seattle, and because I'd heard of it before and liked what I saw when I quickly thumbed through it, I bought it (at .50, how could you go wrong anyway). After arriving home and having time to actually look at it, I couldn't believe the wealth of information it provided! It's Springtime, and I'd planned to research the parks in the area and things to do, but this book has done it all for me. It details bookstores with storytimes, parks and what each does or doesn't offer (good parking, restrooms, etc.) and MANY other things, and is organized by type of activity and area within Seattle or the Eastside. I look forward to further studying this book and making notes about where to take my two kids under the age of 2. It is really worth the money I paid and even 20 times that amount. I would highly recommend it for parents in the Seattle area who are looking for what to do with their kids!
Rating: Summary: bringing out baby Review: I used to live in Seattle- We recently moved from there to South Florida, and I was very sad to see that there are no good guide books here like "Bringing out Baby".I had gotten used to carrying my copy in my diaper bag where ever I went in Seattle. I have two very young children and found the book so useful in my everyday outings. It is thorough, yet easy to read and it saved me time-I could bring my children to places knowing exactly what to expect. I wish Ms. Detering knew Fort Lauderdale as well as she knows Seattle- I miss being able to find good places quickly. I have passed my well used copy to a friend and I highly recommend it to any new parent or parent to be in the Seattle area.

Rating: Summary: Review of Bringing Out Baby Review: I was recently in Seattle over the holidays and came across Bringing Out Baby. The book was great for me because I knew nothing about the city and it gave me plenty of ideas for enjoying time out with my children. The book is very informative and well organized. I passed it on to my host who is 6 months pregnant. I'm sure it will be a great reference guide for her too.
Rating: Summary: Finding baby-friendly activities just became easier! Review: Looking for places to go and things to do with a baby or toddler? Author Julia Rader Detering answers your questions with her new book: Bringing Out Baby. This book is chock full of ideas for things to do in Seattle and the Eastside. It offers information on indoor and outdoor playgrounds, music, dance, and art classes, gymnastics, beaches, pools, storytimes and more--all geared for children under three years old. Julia has not forgotten about the parents and other caregivers. She includes information on new parent support groups, mom's fitness classes and baby-friendly theaters, malls and restaurants. This book is designed to help mothers, fathers and all caregivers find outings appropriate for the needs of their tiny companions.
Rating: Summary: Another opinion on Bringing Out Baby Review: This book is great for those not familiar with the area and have kids under 3. However, I didn't find the book to be as comprehensive as I thought it would be. I can name two wonderful toddler parks in Kirkland that were not even mentioned in the book. Informing the reader as to which parks have restrooms is VERY beneficial. However, if you have "Out and About Seattle with Kids," skip buying this book.
