Rating: Summary: WOW! Review: I found out about this book from an on-line MVP support group which led to my current participation in Dr. Scordo's research. This book is fantastic. I can't believe what I've learned. It's so easy to read and understand. I love the fact that she doesn't push drugs and encourages other ways to help control MVPS symptoms. I started doing what she recommends and am starting to notice a difference. One of the chapters I really liked was what other people with MVP had to say-makes you feel so much less fearful. Thank you Dr. Scordo for your work on this greatly needed topic.
Rating: Summary: The best MVP book Review: I recently bought all the MVP books listed on Amazon.com. This book is by far the best one. Well researched, easy to read, loaded with information. I highly recommond this one--all the reviewers were correct---the book is excellent.
Rating: Summary: The best medical self-help book I've ever read Review: I recently obtained a copy of Dr. Scordo's book Taking Control: Living with the Mitral Valve Prolapse Syndrome, which a friend of the family who also suffers from MVPS recommended to me. Let me tell you, normally it takes me weeks to finish a book, but I couldn't put this one down.I learned so much about myself in this book. The stories about others with Mitral Valve Prolapse made me feel so....normal. Plus I learned how to do things to reduce my symptoms, like exercising or eating better. I didn't know how much control I could have over my MVPS, if I just changed a few habits. I highly recommend this book. It was written for people, not for doctors, so I could really understand it. It's definitely the best medical self-help book I've ever read.
Rating: Summary: Excellent resource Review: I too have purchesed the newer books on MVPS, but I keep coming back to this one. This is the only book out there written by a professional with lots of years experience. I think the word has gotten out about her research and we all look forward to Dr. Scordo's results. This book is an excellent resource and is loaded with very useful information. I agree with the other reviewer you said it is their Bible! When I get scared, I reread what she suggests to do--works everytime.
Rating: Summary: Book is awesome Review: I totally agree with the reviewers who rate this as THE best ever book written on mitral valve. It's easy to read and loaded with useful information. I found out about it in a chat room that Dr. Scordo did on-line. She really is very knowledgeable about this condition. It really is a must read. Keep this book with you!
Rating: Summary: Excellent source for those with MVPS Review: This book answered a lot of questions for me regarding MVPS. I was quite relieved to learn that symptoms are not "all in my head" and that there are others out there experiencing the same things as me. I highly recommend this book for those with MVP as well as their family, friends and physicians.
