Rating: Summary: Excellent Fact book for girls Review: My daughter is 9 years old and this book was perfect. She could not put the book down, she read the entire book in one night. It explained everything she needs to know, and I didn't know how to tell her.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Too Much! Review: My mom bought this book for me when I turned 12, and we looked through it together. Wow, I could not believe what I had read! It was way too innapropriate for pre-teens. I would reccomend "The Care and Keeping of You". By American Girl.
Rating: Summary: OK---she really does want to know... Review: she just doesn't want to tell me she wants to know. I am a woman. I know what it was like. Book has very good basic info about body changes during puberty.Since she has always been a good reader, I got her this book at 9 years old. She said "EWWWWW" and threw it down. I caught her peeking at it occasionally. Then, when she was 10, she read the whole thing cover-to-cover. She even started sharing it with her girl friends secretly. (--apparently they ALL wanted to know). It gave her the PRIVATE confidence to start to ask me questions and we have had great talks about what to expect, what happened with me, and what types of options she has in terms of feminine protection. We even went to buy her bras to get ready. It's not that we are "bad" Moms and have not fostered open and free communication with our daughters! Some (MOST) are shy and when they start getting self-conscious about their bodies, it's very difficult. I need her to have the information...so this was a great way to start. It WILL open the door! SINGLE DADS---GET THIS BOOK! Then have a female relative talk to them about the "details". FOLLOW-UP: When it FINALLY happened (day after her 13th birthday..) she was ho-hum about all of it. No panic, no crying, nada. She read the instructions on the tampon box and that was all. She didn't even need me... (boo-hoo). My beautiful little girl-all grown up.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: This book has a real fun, no-nonsense approach that makes it easy to read. It answers all the questions a growing girl would want to know, but is afraid to ask. It provides easy to understand, thorough explanations with sketches for detail without providing too much in depth information about sexuality that would be inappropriate for a 11 or 12 year old. Great tool for helping a girl become more comfortable with her changing body.
Rating: Summary: Great for teens and pre-teens Review: This book has definitely helped me understand and feel comfortable with having my period. I didn't find this book inappropriate at all. It tells you about normal stuff that should be happening. I, personally, would recommend it to all pre-teens and teens!
Rating: Summary: very comprehensive! Review: This book is very comprehensive and informative. Quite an undertaking this must have been for Ms. Gravelle to include everything from A to Z. If you want no stone left unturned in presenting this topic to your daughter, then this is the book to read. Lorell Gordon, Author of: "Tilly's Birthday" A Young Girl's Introduction to Menstruation.
Rating: Summary: Great to Read with your daughter! Review: This is a good starting point for the sometimes uncomfortable talk we all have with our daughters. It opens the door to questions and makes it very easy!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful - perfect tone for girls Review: This is the best book for girls on this subject, period.
Rating: Summary: Perfect book when giving "THE TALK" Review: When it comes down to giving the talk about growing up and lifes changes make sure you have this book in hand. I took this book to work to show the women at the office and now all of them are going out to buy it for thier girls.
